Good & Bad iOS ports

Post by BitFaced »

Self-explanatory enough, what are the really noteworthy good ports of other console/arcade/handheld/computer games to iOS and what are the bad ports. A few I can think of:

-The Act (Arcade)
-Shantae 2 (DSiWare)
-Giana Sisters (DS)

From what I've heard bad ports:

-Mega Man 2
-Mega Man X
-Sonic 1 & Sonic 2

Are these in particular terrible?

-Sonic CD
-Metal Slug 1, 2 & 3
-Fix-It Felix (Arcade)

Touch screen controls do not necessarily make a bad port, due to the availability such as the iControlPad 1 & 2.

N64/NES/FC/SNES/SFC/GB (SGB)/GBC (Black)(SGB)/FDS/Satellaview/Genesis/Mega Drive/Master System & maybe N64DD/GBC/GBA.

In my view pretty much anything that requires any level of skillful tactical input is going to be a bad port, regardless of the quality of the emulation/coding.

The World Ends With You is a fantastic port and worth the price for admission twice over. Great 2d animation and the touch controls make it easier than the DS original. People liked the two screen fighting but the single screen gameplay is still spot on.

I've always read that Sonic 2 was a bad port, but I never noticed anything wrong with it. Had plenty of fun playing Sonic 2, and I'm quite a big fan of the original version so it's not like I was never exposed to the game.
