Summer Soccer League starts up in two weeks. I'm getting some distance running in for endurance, and working in some sprint workouts too. After any of these workouts, I do 3 sets of 100 sit-ups. Combine it with these three lifting workouts:

Day 1:
Bench Press
Squat
Dips
Lateral Pull-downs
Lower Back Extension
Dumbbell Curls
1 minute of rest in between each sets; 3 sets of 12--dips 3 sets of one minute.

Day 2:
Lunges
Bench Press
Dumbbell Curls
Lateral Pull-downs
Military Dumbbell Press
1 minute of rest in between each set; 3 sets of 12.

Day 3:
Power Cleans
Front Barbell Squats
Dumbbell Bench Press
Lateral Pull-downs
1 minute of rest in between each set; 3 sets of 12.

I used this workout when I was trying out for a PDL team, it served me pretty well to get in excellent shape.

Why do you lat pull downs instead of pull ups? I'm just curious because I honestly hate using machines for anything except my abs and obliques.

They work the same muscles, but I always felt that pull-ups focus more on the arms, while pull-downs focus more on the back. I never noticed much strain on my back when doing pull-ups; it's always my biceps that give out first.

Does anyone here do one-armed pull ups?

lat pull downs isolate the lats/tris more than pullups do, which works my shoulders/back more than my lats anyway. 1 arm pullups? f that, to big for that shit, lol.

I'm skinny

My friends and I are making a list of "things every man should be able to do to save his own life." We've debated putting that on the list. I dunno.

But you can still do it if you're big.

Yeah i guess you can. I probably could. I do 3 sets of 20 on regular pullups. It seems more like a test of strength thing cause the benifits seem minimal.

I try to lift weights at leat 3 times a week, and run a mile on the treadmill everyday,
The rest of my cardio and strength training comes from Rugby Practice [Flanker].
