Interesting. I've only been out and about the last 3-4 weeks but up until yesterday I hadn't seen a complete copy and I'm not sure if even I've seen the cart only. Now Jurassic Park on the other hand........that game might as well be Madden '94 around here.BurningDoom wrote:Not that $8 is that expensive, or anything. But I've seen X-Men go for dirt cheap, like SMB/Duck Hunt cheap.Snatch1414 wrote:Drove around to some yard sales and used music/game stores:

Re: Games Acquired 2013
My wife and I are heading up to New Jersey for my 10th college reunion on Wednesday; so, I think that I am done for the month. (We decided to drive, however; so maybe I will find some games on the way up...
)
I only acquired eight 2600 games this month, but some new stock at a few local pawn shops allowed me to bolster my PS2 collection. I also (wisely? unwisely?) started a Sega CD collection this month. I am up to three games, but I expect it to grow rapidly for at least a little while.
In any event, I picked up some high-quality titles this month, and I am very pleased with my acquisitions. The best deal this month was either my free copy of WWF Rage in the Cage (SCD) or my $2 copy of Shadow Hearts Covenant (PS2). The game I am most excited about, however, is Dragon Warrior V (DS). I can't wait to dive into that one!
Looking forward to June!

Needed to send out for a cable for my newly-found Master System so to make it worth my while I purchased Ghost House, which was in my old collection as a kid.

Sonic Gems Collection (Gamecube)
Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts (GBA)

*NEW* Activision Anthology (GBA)

This came out of a conversation about the PS2 port of the Anthology on the forum. I already have the PC port (which has the most games out of them all) but I wanted it in a portable form. Best of all, I got this complete, boxed, and sealed for the same price a loose cartridge goes for these days.

Now this is impressive. I don't even spot any outliers yet.prfsnl_gmr wrote: Average Game Cost - $3.36
I'm thinking about doing an average game cost for the month of June. It should be fairly low - I just ordered a bunch of Commodore 64 games averaging between 59 and 95 cents each.
Problem is that I also want to buy a Commodore 16 game - but I can't find one on eBay for less than $25!
I think there's also a Vita game coming out this month that I'd like to pick up - so, $40 for that........

Re: Games Acquired 2013
I'm debating what I want to do with my "cost per game" stat in future updates. Thus far I've been just dividing total spending for the year by total number of games acquired...but that spending stat is based on total $spent + total $made and the total number of gross games acquired also includes trades, so it isn't really the same stat that prfsnl_gmr is using as his ignores trades and sales of existing games
I think for consistency's sake, I'll just keep doing it as I have been and might modify it for next year. This will be the first month where I made more money than I spent, which will bring the average for the year of "price per game acquired" fairly low in terms of actual monetary output. However, it doesn't really consider the fact that I parted with stuff as well...perhaps the "cost per game acquired" should be total cost divided by the total net games acquired for the year?
Of course it could be argued that the stuff had little/no value to me as I got rid of it, so there's that too.

Sure does, plus some really good menu music! Not everything is there from the console ports, but Aspyr did a heck of a job emulating that menu. I also like that they put the games in alphabetical order too unlike the PC version. The game interface is much cleaner and easier to use too. Finally, a huge plus, high scores are saved to cartridge. That's a big deal for me, because I can run up huge scores on Crackpots and SeaquestBurningDoom wrote:Does the GBA version have the cool 80s living room menu?

Don't worry, we aren't going to audit you. Just account for your game cost however you see fit. Although I trade a bit on these forums - and although I have a junk box auction from time to time - I almost never sell games anymore. Accordingly, it does not make much sense for me to account for sales.
Also, I will be heading almost up your way tomorrow, are there any good places off of I-81 or I-76 where I should go looking for games?
