There is absolutely zero reason why using a Ps1 controller would cause lag.

I had Anthology on Ps2 and noticed the input lag immediately, got rid of it after having it for about a week. I'm not even particularly sensitive to lag or anything like that either, it was just really nasty.

I somehow did the same thing:

Oops. There is slowdown in the MVS version, but yeah, my copy of MS Anth also has significant input lag.

If anything because PS1 controller's buttons aren't pressure sensitive they'd be faster! :D

I've never had any problem with any input lag in the Wii version as far as I know. The control scheme is cumbersome at times, and no classic controller support stinks as that eliminates using a lot of arcade sticks for a authentic experience. The GCN controller support on the other hand is a welcome feature.

Have you played any other versions, namely on the official hardware?

It could be that you don't really notice input lag because you've not played it without the input lag. I don't know if that's the case, just tossing that out there.

As many posters have pointed out the ps2 input lag is quite well known.

Because I have a theory that many AES/MVS collectors shit on the SNK ports and compilations in an excessive fashion that serves to blow small problems out of proportion and "justify" their expensive purchases, I'd really like to see video comparison of this input lag vs NO input lag...

I don't doubt the compilation's games aren't 100% perfect (few ever are), but I am doubtful that the difference is as bad/problematic as some make it out to be.

I never said for sure it was because of a PS1 controller I said "maybe". All I know is that I don't have a issue with it on my PS2 version.

While I may not have played all of the Metal Gear games in their original form, I have a played a few at the arcade when I was younger. Regardless, the way people are making this is that the PS2 Metal Slug Anthology is unplayable. And I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, the game is PERFECTLY playable and quite fun. I've played it many times, often with friends.

No AES/MVS collector here. I don't own any Neo Geo hardware at all even. I had previously only been playing the Metal Slug games via MAME, and was excited for the Metal Slug Anthology because I wanted to own the games in a "legit" form. I was very disappointed. I was even using a Ps2 controller in MAME via a USB adapter, and going from that to the Ps2 ports was very noticeable to me.

Like I said, I'm not really particularly sensitive to input lag either. I don't notice timing differences moving from say, my CRT to my LCD or things like that. I don't know if there was another revision of the Ps2 port that fixed some of the lag issue, but I do know that the copy I played felt so "off" that I didn't want to keep it in my collection.

I'd also imagine that something like input lag would be very hard to make a video for. We're talking milliseconds after all.

Do the direct ports (MS1 on PS1/Saturn, MSX on PS1, MS3 on PS2, etc.) have input lag?
Futhermore, what about the, dare I mention, iOS ports? Touch-screen controls aside (because you could probably just use the iControlPad 2 for that crap) are they faithful enough ports to consider getting for proper legal handheld Metal Slug?

I have the digital copy of metal slug anthology on the psp and the load times are very quick, no mid stage loading and no input lag at all, is the umd version that much wors and would the fact that I have the psp 3000 with more RAM play a factor on its performance?
