It's also a fairly short game once you get the hang of things, and I get the vibe you aren't after a huge quest with the "green beans" comment. That's not to say the game doesn't have much to offer though, as it has tons of replayability if you get really into it and want to keep doing more runs. Great production values as well from both the developers and Working Designs.

That's an extremely solid list though. A word on Xenogears, wait until you've got a lot of time before you dive into that one. Looking at a 60+ hours monster with several tests of patience on the way, and that's if you move quickly and don't bother with side stuff. That's not to say it isn't good, but it is very abnormally paced.
Yeah I can't disagree with this. Dragon Force is a game that I still play to this day and derive a lot of fun from it. My brother got it when the Saturn was on its way out on the super cheap. Still play it and love it unconditionally. Such a good game!

Thanks for all the suggestions thus far.

The green beans comment was to reflect seeing the shortcomings of a game after playing something vastly superior. For example, I played through Far Cry 3 and absolutely loved it. Afterwards, I went for Far Cry 2. While I think it's a great game, 3 was so much above and beyond that I couldn't bring myself to play 2. I don't want that to happen.

I don't mind long games, so long as they hold my interest. Often my problem with RPGs is that they get old to me long before I finish the game. Fallout New Vegas was kind of like that. I did play all the way through Fallout 3 (and 1 and 2 which are great games in their own right), but with New Vegas, it got old before I got anywhere close to finishing it. Too much like Fallout 3, doing the same things in New Vegas and it wasn't as good imo.

I haven't decided yet, but based on the suggestions I'm leaning towards either Dragon Force or Ocarina of Time at this point.

Anybody else want to chime in here before I get started? I'm free the next two days to do nothing but game.

I'd also suggest Ocarina - once you get the first few things (shield / sword) and get through the first dungeon or two you can sort of pick up and play and do one thing here and there. Very much an action game too with lots of puzzle solving.

Don't worry about it overshadowing others since it is quite different than the Saturn / SNES / PSX rpg's. So even it turns out to be your favorite - it won't sour the others.

New York Strip to T-Bone to Porterhouse. All great, just different.

Thanks for that, and thanks to everyone else that gave input.

Looks like it will be Ocarina of Time. After that, I'll move on to Dragon Force.

Dragon Force looks really interesting, wish I had it.

Ocarina of Time was boring to me. I'd stick with the 2D Zelda's.
