Limbo, Braid, Sam & Max, Bionic Commando Rearmed, Mega Man 9 and 10, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, n+, Journey.sonikjesus wrote:Why don't you recommend some good games BoringSupreez.
I don't mean that games suck today compared to in the past at all. I can remember that back in the PS1 days, I couldn't just grab whatever was displayed prominently at Walmart and expect to have a good time. I had to look stuff up online, do a little research, maybe buy the game off a website instead of going to an actual store. It's about the same as it's ever been.sonikjesus wrote:And if yr recommending me to look for low profile things doesnt that mean games do suck more now? I mean back then I could go into a store and get a good game. Now I have to dig?

Just google "obscure *insert genre here*" and you'll have enough to keep you busy for months.
For example..."Obscure JRPGs." Yikes.

Other than Exclusives for the Dreamcast, i dont know how you can rate it above the GameCube, which has ports of DC games and more power, and a better controller that doesnt dig into your thumb.
But imo, No the Dreamcast is all Nostalgia, same goes for GameCube.

Re: Ever since the Dreamcast, I don't really enjoy games any
The Dreamcast is a really good system with some really good games, but there's certainly stuff to play that's newer. Red Dead Redemption was maybe the best game I've played in 5+ years. Ninja Gaiden Black and Ninja Gaiden 2 are very good. Fallout 3 was amazing. BioShock was excellent. Portal 1 and 2 are all-time classic puzzlers. Borderlands was very addicting.
As for downloadables, 'Splosion Man is very good and perfectly captures that old school feeling of "I'm so frustrated but I have to try again!!!". Shadow Complex was actually worth every bit of $15 (I'm not a completionist by any means but I made sure to get 100% on that game). Lastly, if you want the best of both worlds there's always Retro City Rampage. Maybe not the best game ever but it'll take you back to the '80s and '90s on your Xbox or PS.
It's not that the DC was the last great console. I mean jeez the PS1 alone has enough good games to last me the rest of my life probably. It's just as the years go by there's not enough hours in the day to play games. I do think nowadays most games don't have much of a soul, but there's still enough quality there IMO. Maybe not by much, but still.

Depends on your age, AQ. The college kids coming in these days are just babies, at half my age... For them, the GC is probably quite nostalgic, if even that.AppleQueso wrote: ...is the gamecube even old enough yet to be considered "nostalgic"?

I mean, I'm 23. Not sure I have "nostalgia" for the Gamecube right now.marurun wrote:Depends on your age, AQ. The college kids coming in these days are just babies, at half my age... The GC is what, 12 years old now? I think that qualifies as nostalgia territory.AppleQueso wrote:I mean, I'm 23. Heck, 12 years ago cellphones weren't as ubiquitous as they are now, Facebook and Twitter hadn't yet been conceived...
