Even if you're not that interested in the DC library, it's worth owning one for the homebrews and fan-made Neo Geo CD ports.

Not the original discs, but there are Neo Geo CD emulators that can be bundled with NGCD isos and burned.Violent By Design wrote:You can run Neo Geo CD games on DC?Retrodude wrote:Even if you're not that interested in the DC library, it's worth owning one for the homebrews and fan-made Neo Geo CD ports.

I've only ever tried it once or twice. Samurai Shodown II worked well enough, while Metal Slug 2 had a lot of slowdown (but I guess it has severe slowdown in the original too.)Violent By Design wrote:That's cool, do they run well?

I kinda felt like giving the DC a second chance recently, and I found one for $25 at Savers today along with Jet Grind Radio and MDK2 together for $5 combined. I haven't messed with it too much, I was able to get the laser unjammed after I first tested it and it seems to be fine now.BurningDoom wrote:Awesome.ApolloBoy wrote:Remember when I said a few pages back that I had no interest in picking up a DC again?

Re: Do You Have Any Unpopular Gaming Opinions?
I think the DC is overrated. It's got some good shmups and fighters, but I find the rest don't appeal too much to me. Here are some good non-shmup/non-fighter games, though (you already mentioned Jet Grind Radio and MDK2).ApolloBoy wrote:I kinda felt like giving the DC a second chance recently, and I found one for $25 at Savers today along with Jet Grind Radio and MDK2 together for $5 combined. Bust-A-Move 4, Crazy Taxi, Crazy Taxi 2, Gauntlet Legends, Grandia II, GunLord, Rayman 2, San Francisco Rush 2049
Others add Sonic Adventure/2, but I found them a bore.
Re: Do You Have Any Unpopular Gaming Opinions?
I enjoyed Kiss Psycho Circus: The Nightmare Child, but I could see why some wouldn't like it. I thought it was cool that instead of bombarding you with enemies constantly, they're more spread out, so as you explore the levels, you never know when you're going to be ambushed. Builds tension, ya know?
