Awesome, I knew holding out for Space Invaders would pay off! I had a feeling there would be an XBLA port. :D

I should have waited for SIE. I'll probably trade my DS cart in for this. KOF is pretty cool, too. And I LOVE Arkanoid.

As I said in the R-Type Dimensions thread, it's nice to see MS hasn't abandoned the idea of putting GOOD solid arcade/classic games on XBLA. Spotlight the original content, but not at the expense of the classics. No reason for it to be a zero sum game.

SIE was redone for DS, so I can forgive a shallow port of it(not redoing it slightly for widescreen, etc) to XBLA, but I am severly disappointed in what I've seen of Arkanoid.

Talk about little effort. Pacman CE is the model for these updates IMO, and Arkanoid looks like it has done nothing to update itself. Why isn't it widescreen? The blocks are blandly shaded? There is no 'style' whatsoever. Some people may not have liked Galaga Legions, but it still did all the same 'type' of things as Pacman CE to try to update itself.

Arkanoid is such a basic concept. More needs added to the equation. 'Visualizers' by Jeff Minter?? Please. It's called a 'background' - thanks! great addition! All the 'bars' on the sides of the screen are unnecessary and would be better served by being used for actual gameplay. The Pacman and Galaga updates made use of a neon-retro look. SIE looks like it has some creativity behind it, but I see none from Arkanoid.
