So, with the death of XNA, everybody assumed Microsoft was just prepping for the next wave of indie publishing on the new Xbox.
nope.
The Xbox One will be the only next-gen console that will not allow independent developers to self-publish. Unlike the PS3 or the WiiU (or the steambox by nature), indies must go through microsoft themselves as their publisher, who sets price and regulates indie games to their own tucked away section on XBL.
This is fucking awful. This is like microsoft taking the worst parts of steam, iOS, motion control gaming, and the AAA blockbuster model and building a console solely out of those parts.

But yeah, I hope a lot of RB members get your reference. Mine too at that.
I've had a "so and so shared a picture" message on the 360 annnnnnd I don't think they meant to share it.
I hate, abhor, can't stand anyone taking my picture without warning and my permission. I'll go Bjork on relatives who take pictures without asking.
I don't know everything about the xbox one, but if you HAVE to have it connected to the net to play a game, and if you HAVE to have a camera on you at all times...it isn't for me.

I won't be going anywhere near the Xbox One. I'm always excited by console launches and usually buy them on launch or close after but the new Xbox just isn't jiving with me. I do NOT want an always on camera in my home. Most important, I want freedom to do what I want with the physical media that I purchase. I will not support Microsoft's vision to control the second hand market.

Indie games can be published on Xbox Live Indie Games or whatever that becomes. Currently on PS3 it is just called Minis and on Steam you have to get Greenlit. How is this different then now?

Do it Grandpa style who hates the blinking 12:00 on his VCR. A little electrical tape will fix that and the mic inputs.Stark wrote: Just get a camera cover. Like they make for Web cams.

It does? Since when?dsheinem wrote:The vast majority of PC games sold in the past decade have A) been sold via a digital distribution platform like Steam which has a one time install code
I've already reinstalled all of my Steam games multiple times when I got my new computer I'm currently using. I mean, I only own about a hundred+ Steam games so maybe I just lucked out and haven't bought the ones which utilize this one time install feature that supposedly exists?
So the next one is going to do the exact same thing that the last one did? The thing nobody has complained about until just now when they desperately needed another reason to justify their hatred for something they haven't tried yet, and simultaneously grab for attention?TheRev wrote:another strike against the XBOX One
