Halo, Call of Duty&Battlefield, Sports games and TV/movies. Oh joy.
It seems like Microsoft isnt even trying to appeal to the young 15-25 year old gamer audience anymore. It's like they're going out of their way to enforce all the negative steretypes people have about the modern console generation/Xbox brand. And honestly, what's percentage of people under the age of 28 who still watch TV? Or people who care about motion controls? Get on with the times. But I guess that would mean focusing on video games. It's like wrestling with the whole sports entertainment thing. The whole concept has become incredibly twisted, like a parody of itself or something.

Anybody defending this system now is a Traitor to gaming.
Hell the entire purpose of the original Xbox was to trojan horse an all-in-one entertainment box that'd be the center of the living room. Multimedia was the plan from the very beginning.

I say with full impunity, and without hyperbole, that Gabe Newell is coming to save us all. If Valve is Gozer, and Steam is the key master, and Linux is the marshmellow man instrument chosen for the proverbial gaming scene represented by new york, then we can expect him to smash our buildings with fists made out of Oculus Rift. And the 3 ghostbusters this time all have extra chromosomes, so they're utterly ineffective against this all.
Oh and Gabe Newell is the gate keeper.

Seriously, is no one else frightened that their Kinect will always be "listening" to them and always online? We are inviting cameras into our home that are constantly on and constantly connected to the internet. Weren't we warned that we should never allow this to happen? And part of that warning was that when it happens, "they" will actually convince you that you want it and that it's a good thing?

It's very easy to assume that what's important to you or I is actually what's important to the hundreds of millions of potential customers across the globe.Menegrothx wrote:Halo, Call of Duty&Battlefield, Sports games and TV/movies. Oh joy.

Plenty of younger people still use TV. I don't, but, I have streaming services, which will be integrated into the One anyway. Simply doing Netflix/Hulu is mundane now - also acting as a cable box/etc too is actually a selling point if you have those services.
Similarly, I don't care much about motion controls, but fact is the Wii sold shitloads for games like that, and there are more Kinects out there than Saturns and Dreamcasts combined.
The NFL also made more money last year than the entirety of video game software sales. No real wonder that MS would want to connect their device to that.
Thing is, it doesn't take a specialized device to get good games. To me, the platform creator's job is to make an appealing place to create content. Having additional non-gaming stuff it can do is no different to me than there being games/genres on the system that I have no interest in playing, which is the case for practically any game system ever.

I am absolutely terrified of this, yes. More than anything else, this is what turns me off the most about the Xbox One. This is precisely why I will pass on the console.J T wrote:"What are you doing Dave?"dsheinem wrote:should the Xbox One see a slim model, there will be an Original Xbox One.

Depending on how the Playstation Eye works, I might be passing on that too. I refuse to let a camera that is always on and always connected to the internet and always communicating with a private server into my home.

We were warned...and, unfortunately for us, "they" are far more insidious than our ancestors imagined. Rather than inviting a brutal, all-knowing, authoritarian regime into our homes, we have invited something much worse...MARKETERS!J T wrote:[eriously, is no one else frightened that their Kinect will always be "listening" to them and always online? It is only a matter of time before we see this:

"Ummm...What's going on here?"
"Hey...I saw you were making out with your girlfriend on the couch last night. Good work! Have you considered TROJAN brand condoms? Their..."

Which is why I'll stick with the Wii U. And Durex.
