FTP XBMC Problems
FTP XBMC Problems
Hi all! I'm having a slight issue... I can't seem to connect my XBOX to the PC's FTP at all. My set up is as follows... Cable>Cable Modem>Router>5 Port Hub>PC+XBOX. I had to use the hub because the router is in a separate house. For some odd reason I can get an IP and actually connect to apple movie trailers, but nothing else? Weird huh? If you think this is a problem you can solve, let me know!

Can you ping the xbox from your computer?

How would I go about doing that?Hatta wrote:Can you ping the xbox from your computer?
Also, I know this isn't the place to ask but I'm sure most of you have some experience with this sort of thing... Besides the internet not working right I was wondering how I would get and use an imdb scraper for my movies. I put around 170 on there and would like to keep them as organized as I see them in the youtube videos. Also, emulator, game, and tool icons, where do I get these?
Re: FTP XBMC Problems
Xbox Network Connection using Hub
This is the most common network configuration and is also the easiest to setup.
Step #1: Plug your network cable(RJ-45 cable) that comes from your cable/DSL modem into the uplink port of your hub. (Make sure that your uplink is switched to "on"). If you don?t have a cable/DSL modem, that's fine. Just proceed to step #2, and disregard step #1.
Step #2: Take an RJ-45 cable and run it from one of the ports of the hub, directly to the Network Interface Card (NIC) installed in your computer.
Step #3: Take another RJ-45 cable and run it from a different port of your hub directly to your xbox.
**NOTE** A switch may be used in place of a hub with the same basic setup.**
That's it! No other network changes should be needed for this configuration. Your Xbox is now on the same network as your PC. If you have EvolutionX up and running, then you should be able to FTP into your Xbox from your PC by putting in the ip address of your Xbox on the network. To get the ip address, select ?configure IP? from the EvolutionX dashboard, and this will give you the IP address that you need to put into your FTP program (such as FlashFXP).
also do you have a ftp client on the pc? flash ftp or easy ftp

Re: FTP XBMC Problems
Ok, so all that is done. Uplink from cable modem>router is in the hub, connected hub to other PC on the network (2 PC's, one I am running FlashXP from is the one directly connected to the Hub, not the Router) and that's working fine, and I get an IP from the XBOX when DHCP (?) is enabled. When I put that into FlashXP and use port 21, user and password as xbox, I cannot connect. But for some strange reason as stated earlier, the xbox gets info from apple movie trailers and I get an IP on screen.
Re: FTP XBMC Problems
What's the error that's coming up in your ftp program? Have you got a firewall enabled on your computer? It may be blocking port 21.
It sounds like a software issue, if you can't resolve it I'd suggest using a different FTP client. The only other free one that I know of is SmartFTP. This can help especially if you have a firewall but don't remember what rule you set up when you first ran the program, It will just prompt for a new rule for the new software.
If you don't have a firewall, again, it could be a problem with the FTP client. (i'm not familiar with Flashfxp, i've never used it. In fact I don't think i've ever heard of it until this thread!)

Re: FTP XBMC Problems
Think I had that issue a long time ago when using a hub, xbox could get ip and use internet easily and xlink kai for online gaming, but the only way for my pc to see it or xbox to see pc shared files was to configure my pc for static ip not automatic, but hence loosing internet connection. Try it out it should work. I had a hub and a switch with same results and tried every solution posible on the issue.Saraph wrote:Ok, so all that is done. One solution think I read somewhere was putting a second network card for this, but since I wanted to upgraded my network setup with a router anyways bought a cheap 4-port one and problem solved. Xbox, ps2 and two computers all see each other.
