Ikaruga!! (need some opinions)

Post by Tercoil »

Hey i just got my pal version of ikaruga delivered and it is completely new and sealed (so actual mint condition) i was wondering if i should leave it sealed as a collectors item or will ikaruga never be collectable??
I just need some of your opinions on what i should do, because i thought ikaruga might be considered rare but i'm not sure.
thanks in advance

The problem with that advice is that the "quit it" portion of the process becomes much more complicated after the "hit it" maneuver has been completed. Much easier to "quit it" before all else.

I think Ikaruga is ALREADY collectible. You may want to burn a copy of it and play that instead (DC? maybe you are talking about Gamecube version).

eh...awesome game, but not that collectible. Having been released on three different consoles, and being a highly anticipated game(on the heels of RS), there are plenty of copies out there. The DC version would probably be the most collectible as it's a Sega console, like with RS, but the Cube version you have (yes Ivo, this is the only PAL version) is fairly common. Of course the LIVE Arcade version is not resaleable.

yeh i am using gamecube, and if the xbox remake hadn't come out it probably would have been more collectible. I already see it goin for 70-80 on ebay (i got mine for 60) and i didn't know whether this wold increase or decrease?

Well, yeah, sealed shmups will always be worth a decent amount. Ikaruga is a bigger name than most though. That will work both ways in regards to it's value.

haha you have a good point, also do u think the value would be heightened with the playability of it on wii?? because most gamecube games have had a sudden rise in price since the wii which is quite annoying =.="

Collectors tend to like having it via non-digital distribution, I would guess. The "problem" is that hardcore players of shooters also would contribute to the price, but now they (probably) won't - I think the Live version is HD, although there was some problem with different patterns throwing off experienced players?

dreamcast version is quite collectible and for that matter so is the GC version. Seems like GC versions have gone for 50+ for some time (or used to when I bought mine) DC versions I would imagine can be quite expensive and difficult to come by. Sealed, I'd keep it and get a different opened copy to play

What is the point of keeping a "sealed' copy of a game? You either like to play it or not. I can't believe it will someday be worth "hundreds" of dollars in the future especially since you can get it digitally. Besides even if a game is worth money today. What would happen when video games decline someday. I mean the popularity wont always be there. Look at comic books/baseball cards etc etc. They were all at one time worth money but today. Not so much. At least that is my opinion.
