What can I say, I'm a sucker for glutamic acid derived from sodium.lisalover1 wrote:I knew you liked to cook, Luke, but that's just ridiculous.Luke wrote:Playstation for MSG.
Thanks for jumping in before someone made a tasteless Asian joke.

5-10 at least. I don't even own a 3DS or Vita yet. I got about 7 games for 3DS and only one on Vita that I physically own. My 360 console only has around 10 games and less than 10 of Backwards compatible games. I really don't mind having a small library. I used to have a lot of GBA games, then I narrowed it down to 5.

So what about consoles that you're not buying at launch, that already has an established library and there are no more games made for it?
You all who said 1, if you could only find one game on a retro console that interested you, say e.g. the 3DO, would you still get it? 5 games for the 32X? 1 game for the Pippin? etc

There was no 'at launch' part in the initial question. So the answer still remains one.o.pwuaioc wrote:You all who said 1, if you could only find one game on a retro console that interested you, say e.g. the 3DO, would you still get it? 5 games for the 32X? 1 game for the Pippin? etc

Oh, sure, but many seemed to have been talking about launches/when the consoles were new, so I was just clarifying.elmagicochrisg wrote:There was no 'at launch' part in the initial question. Also, care to elaborate? I'm trying to decide on a couple of console purchases but can't find - maybe? - enough games for them to justify that decision, thus the question.

0. I still don't have any games I like for my 3DO, XavixPort, or 32X.If you could only find one game on a retro console that interested you, say e.g. the 3DO, would you still get it? 5 games for the 32X? 1 game for the Pippin? etc
I bought my 360 for Fallout 3, and my PS3 for MGS:4 (which I bought before I picked up the system, yet I actually never got around to playing it because of Infamous).
Everything else had a fairly established library before I picked it up. So i've never really had to consider it.

One is enough. But it never stays at just one though... lolo.pwuaioc wrote:Oh, sure, but many seemed to have been talking about launches/when the consoles were new, so I was just clarifying.elmagicochrisg wrote:There was no 'at launch' part in the initial question. To give you one example. I initially wanted a Saturn to play the Panzer Dragoon games. Panzer Dragoon Saga in particular. Even if just to find out what all the fuss is about...
If I would find a Jaguar with Tempest 2000 for a decent price, I might be tempted also...

Re: How many games does it take
I only require one game to push me over the tipping point, but that tipping point is more lenient if there are other games I want on the system. For instance, the idea of new Mario etc etc. on the WiiU was enticing, but it was when I learned Rayman Legends was (supposed to be) exclusive that tipped me into buying one at launch.
Of course, that burned me in the end.
I also bought a 3DS XL as soon as I saw some gameplay of the new Fire Emblem. The other games on the 3DS XL were looking pretty good, but that one sent me over the edge.
The only recent example of a system without a killer app I've gotten in to is the PSVita. We'll see how that goes.

Older. Not wiser.
