Anyone Collect or Still Listen to Vinyl?

I need a new table, but I have about fifty records. Mostly old soundtracks, hiphop, oddball electronica, and a large selection of both the Chieftains and Henio's discography.

I am super tempted to buy Daft Punks new album on vinyl, but the price is just out of my range right now. That and I have not listened to the album yet.

My set-up in my bedroom:

Long story short, I basically got it for free (although it involved me raking a firebreak for my neighbour, totally worth it though).
I've only really been collecting for less than 6 months though, my collection sits at around 10. My old man has hundreds though, and I have complete access to it (which includes some original Pink Floyd pressings).

It was me! :D

I have an old pair of Lafayette headphones that I stole from my mother. They just don't make stuff like they used to, and these headphones are a great example of that.

Yeah, I think I said some where back in this thread, my current table is a Numark. Probably not the best table ever, but it seems like a god of turntables compared to my last one.
Haha, its rather funny how well my numark actually plays. When I first bought one, I expected it to be some modern China junk. She ended up being so good, I bought a second for a DJ Setup. Last fall, I ended up swapping one out and running 1 Technique and one numark. Really sweet setup IMHO, some guys don't like to scratch two different brands or model tables, but it seems to suit me fine. So basically I ended up just putting the other numark in the box, and now she sits in my basement collecting dust while I use the other  -dooooh-
Don't hate the player, hate the (video)game.

I've never owned vinyl before, but a trip to a local shop had me leaving with an LP of Judas Priest - Sin After Sin.

...so now I guess I've got my foot in the door a little. I think I'm gonna go back through some of the posts in this thread about good entry-level turntables.

As far as "budget" turntables (i.e. not technics), I've had the best luck with stantons. Just my 2c. At this point I have my technics 1200's and I'll probably stick with those forever.

I finally got Refused - "The Shape of Punk to Come" on vinyl for a fair price. :D

I love vinyl, but don't buy a lot of new releases tbh. I'd love to support contemporary artists releasing their albums on vinyl, but I just don't have the money they want for it. I do buy classic records here and there. I like Jazz, Reggae, Hip-Hop and a number of other genres that traditionally came out on vinyl, so there's a lot of cheap stuff out there.

Then again, my hifi is sat on the wrong side of the Channel, so there's really no point in buying records at the moment.

For anyone looking to build up a collection of 45s Norton Records is having a special on discs damaged by Sandy - 10 for $20 (or $27 with special sleeves). While the sleeves/labels were damaged, the records themselves should play fine.

Norton Records is an awesome company that puts out some top-notch rockabilly/psychobilly/surf/CRAZY ROCK & ROLL. It's a grab bag, but it's way safer than picking through bins at garage sales or thrift shops.
