Valve have just launched a new community feature. It's like the Gamerscore thing on Xbox 360 but with a collectible trading card aspect. So it's like taking crack, multiplying it by meth and getting super-crack.
Anyway. I have 2 invites to give away. One of which has already gone to Emwearz because he asked first. So tell me a joke, the funniest jokes get invites.

I've seen a lot of hate over this feature on the internet. I don't get it. Why? It's free, non-compulsory and gives me an added excuse to play my embarrassingly rotund Steam library. What's not to like?Ack wrote:The funniest joke?Niode wrote:http://steamcommunity.com/tradingcards/

As horse walks into a bar. The bartender says "why the long face?". The horse, incapable of human speech, promptly shits on the floor and leaves.

From what I've read, it's apparently tied in to how many friends I can connect to on Steam. I dislike the thought that, while this may merely be Beta, this system may someday become mandatory for me to be able to communicate effectively with friends whom I just wish to play games with.
Re: Steam Trading Cards
I don't want one but as a former barman I figure you'd have some good jokes. What do you think of this one?
I'll spoiler this because bad metal imagery. This is also the joke I use when the gays hit on me.

Yes I have some good jokes and some awful ones. It's good to have a repertoire.

If this is true, I'm a bit worried about the long term consequences. Now, it may not be a concern whatsoever. After all, this is only Beta. But for the time being, I'm wary.Rock, Paper, Shotgun wrote:Badges, meanwhile, enter the picture once you’ve completed a card set, and they’ll pop, loot-pinata-like, into a glittering mess of emoticons, profile backgrounds, Steam level XP, and the chance to get a coupon for another game or pertinent DLC. All of that culminates in a level-up, which basically does nothing except make a number increase. Oh, also, it lets you add more friends to your friends list, which seems like kind of a not-great feature to arbitrarily limit.

Are friends lists limited now?
