Man slade is an SOB to level up, its not like leveling up a thief in fire emblem were you can just park him in a forest and dodge tank everything. Slade seems to have rather low avoidance and does almost no damage >.>

For his first level or so, just set up a couple guys with 3 or less hp for him to kill. I got lucky and he +2ed his attack on his first 2 levels.

If you are still struggling, there is a power water in the shrine south of granseal. You can grab it after the battle when he joins up or after the 2nd battle as well.

I believe everyone has the same chance to crit/dodge/double attack, so unlike Fire Emblem combat comes down to turn order and positioning to protect your low def/health guys.

Just started playing the game last night after a few delays. Have only gotten through the first battle but I should have a bit of time to dedicate to it tonight.

These games with very low numbers always make me feel a bit insecure, starting the game with 11 HP and doing 2-3 damage on 5 HP enemies is a bit weird to me. I'll hopefully get used to it.

I played through a battle last night, and got a Power Ring. Right now I'm in a cave (don't remember the area) where I'm about to go at it with the Hobgoblin.

Seriously? That's surprising. Slade is the only one in my group who consistently gets double attacks and counter attacks (after promotion that is). I assumed it was something about him, but I guess it was just luck.

Got a bit of time in with the game, it's pretty straight forward so I've gotten the hang of it already. I may regret picking normal difficulty since it seems a bit too easy.

I'm on my way back to Granseal after picking up Slade in the Galam prison, saved right before the first battle so I don't know how good he is yet.

Thus far the MC seems to have gone in a fast glass cannon direction. I used both a Strength and Agility up item on him and got +4 for both. However his level ups have been... disappointing with defense. Seems to take a lot of damage if I don't play him smart and conservatively.

Yeah normal is incredibly easy. I am finding hard to be too easy as well, I shouldve played on super.

Bowie will become powerful and isn't really a glass cannon.

I just grabbed May and left Ribble. Moving along a couple battles a night.
