need help with SNES digital audio mod
Re: need help with SNES digital audio mod
quick question does the shielding need to be grounded? I am noticing it isn't connected to ground right now and want to make sure that isn't a part of the issue right now. When all the shielding is in place that is grounded, but I am pretty sure that is just for FCC compliance.

Shielding has to be grounded, otherwise it's not shielding anything. FCC whatever aside, if it's not grounded then it's not shielding.
What shielding are you talking about? The top to the audio module thing?

Yes I noticed that just hanging there on the connector it's not getting a good ground connection, but don't think that would affect the audio mod. This is the shielding on the sound module.

Re: need help with SNES digital audio mod
shielding absolutely can affect digital audio. If the sound module isn't grounded the sound chip itself may not even be working correctly. Additionally I have experienced first hand a digital coax that was not grounded, and that caused the receiver not to make the "digital handshake".

Grounding the shield didnt work. Connections are right. I guess I have 3 incompatible receivers? Lol what brands work?
