Seattle's KEXP 90.3 FM is an amazing public radio station in Seattle, which you can also enjoy online even if you're outside of Washington.

They also release amazing on-air performances, which capture some of the brilliant artists that make it on the local airwaves.
i-Tunes Podcasts
YouTube Videos

Here are a few performances by Seattle locals:
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (hip hop)
Blue Scholars (hip hop)
The Cave Singers (folk rock)
The Head and the Heart (folk rock)
Ivan & Alyosha (folk rock)
Allen Stone (soul, like a white Stevie Wonder)

And some non-locals that I love:
Florence + The Machine (legendary vocalist from the UK)
Charles Bradley and the Menahan Street Band (soul like James Brown/Otis Redding from Florida)
Of Monsters and Men (big folk sound from Reykjavik)
Cloud Cult (folk rock)
Femi Kuti (African World Beat)

In the 80s, 90s, and early 00s, I lived in Utah, so I still feel a connection to the musicians from there that I listened to from that time.

Steezo and Diggabeatz (turntablism, breakbeat)

The Numbs (old school hip hop)

Sandalwood (electronic)

Stretch Armstrong (ska)

Greg Floor (jazz)

God's Revolver (hardcore; this is my cousin's band and the artwork is my brother's drawing)

I've been friends with these guys for, yikes, nearly a decade.

First person to point me out in the video gets a CIB copy of Crash Wrath of Cortex, PS2 for freebies.
Video isn't available for my country :(

As for my local town, Perth seems to be having a grunge resurgence lately (Just with less Courtney Love).

One such band is Mezzanine:

Also I couldn't talk about awesome local music without mentioning Karnivool. Some of your guys might of heard of them, I heard they're big in the states. The lead singer actually went to my high school back in the day (he also sings for Birds of Tokyo):

Those guys are from here in Minneapolis. Pretty cool guys themselves from what I hear, which is always good to hear, to many asshole musicians here.

There's more that I should add I'm just not used to being up this early so I'll add some people later.

Some Late 80's to late 90's LI bands that hugely influenced me.

1.6 Band Hardcore, but very "mathy" and riffy for their time.
The Last Crime Post-Hardcore, members of 1.6 band and it's very aggressive.
Garden Variety Post Hardcore / 'Emo' ( back when emo was emotive hardcore)
Radio 4 - Post-Punk / Dance Punk - Members of Garden Variety.
Reagan Youth Straight Up 80's Hardcore.

... and of course ya'll probably heard of the Ramones   .

I'll refrain from NYC bands, because they're usually not really from here, but move and form here... and there's too many.

I just got back from the world premiere of the movie The Otherside at the Seattle International Film Festival. It was a documentary about the Seattle Hip Hop scene. A lot of local hip hop icons were there, including Macklemore. Sir Mix-a-Lot almost made it too, but he got stuck in traffic from Portland unfortunately. It was a great time and the movie was a lot of fun if you're a hip hop fan or a proud Seattlite.

From the movie, a medley of Seattle Rappers

There's a band we played with about a month ago called Fast Love. It's a husband/wife guitarist combo with a couple of other guys for bass/drums and they freakin' rock. They put on an amazing show. They're super tight and have really great rockin' tunes. Plus they did quite an awesome cover of Breakin' The Law by Priest.

Plus Monnie, the wife is SUPER cute. Nothing hotter than a lovely woman who plays the guitar like a badass.

I can't get to a link here, but if you facebook em, look for "Fast Love ATX". They're pretty awesome.
