PS. No, I'm not buying a Duo. You know that someone was going to say it.

Cheap PC Engine games?
I'm planning on picking up a Core Grafx in the next month or two and I need some games to go with it. I generally use http://videogames.pricecharting.com/ for a quick estimate, but they don't cover Japanese games. I just want to know what games I can get for the system without breaking the bank (say $10-25). I'm okay with buying the occasional expensive game ($30-50), but if most games are going to be that price I might have to rethink my decision. Loose HuCards are perfectly fine with me.
PS. No, I'm not buying a Duo. You know that someone was going to say it.

I don't own too many PC Engine games....... if we disregard sports and mahjong type stuff, some cheaper decent games in your price range (non-text heavy, I'm assuming you don't speak Japanese) include Space Harrier, Dragon Spirit, Galaga 88, Bomber Man 93, R-Type, Alien Crash, Dragon Saber, Adventure Island, Altered Beast, Fantasy Zone, and many, many more...
btw get a Duo or CD unit soon. Region free!

There are some reputable vendors who sell product from Japan. The shipping is kinda scary, but the prices for loose hucards aren't too bad.

Alright, so how about this Turbo Duo R? Is this a good deal? It seems like a good deal.

I've known people who bought Duos from that very seller and are quite pleased. Looks pretty good to me.

Bought an original model PC Engine Duo from him a while back, and the console is still going strong.
Only thing was I had to get another power adapter for the system. At the time I made the purchase (I don't know if it's the case with him now as well) he used to ship out all his Duo's with a Mega Drive 2 power supply. And there just isn't enough juice with that to run a Duo without it really heating up.

The Duo I linked to doesn't come with a power supply. What would you recommend as a replacement?

Well they're currently out of stock, but AFAIK they should have stock again in probably a fortnights time.ZeoDefender wrote:The Duo I linked to doesn't come with a power supply. What would you recommend as a replacement?

You can get Street Fighter II' for cheap. Or at least you could about 10 years ago.
The Sega games are usually pretty affordable. The japanese bonk games don't go for much. Stuff like Legendary Axe is usually pretty reasonable, too. The japanese versions of the neutopia games are usually dirt cheap.
Also, get a Duo, or a CD, or some sort of way to play CD-Rom^2 games. That's the real heart of the PC Engine library.
