It's like trying to take the mona-lisa or some other famous piece of art and altering it, it just doesnt do it for me.

Are you by any chance referring to rom hacks with this? Those feel more like 'remixes' than fan sequels to me.

There are lots of good fangames out there. Can't say I care for it when a fangame tries to pass itself off as a straight up sequel though.

The thing that bothers me, is this "Legend of Zelda: Parallel Worlds" and The Legend of "Zelda - Goddess of Wisdom" have a Physical cart copy, i can understand a cart copy of a translated Secret Of Mana 2, but not an unofficial "fan remix"

Really bogus.

But when it comes to games like "Pier Solar" im all for it though, its original.

I kinda think it was less a case of "Hey I made this fan remix thing so I could put it on a cart" and more of a case of "Hey I can put roms on carts, oh look at this fan remix I'm gonna put that on one"

I'd be interested in playing this along with Mother 4 (if it's ever released).

I always thought they said "BONG!" :P

Anyway, with this, this reminds me a lot of the zillion Sonic fan games that are out there with the mismatched tiles, off-control, bugs, etc. only with DKC there are basically no other fan games out there for the series. I saw that this is made with Multimedia Fusion 2 as well, which doesn't pan out very well for polish in games in general (at least all the games I tried so far that was made with it), as it comes with it's own built-in shoddy engine and only GUI-like programming for the events (no scripting). IMO what would be amazing is a fully functional level editor for the DKC roms where someone can make a hack of existing levels with the original game engine (which IS in the works...). I did see a lot of great ideas on DKC-Atlas for an original DKC game such as elemental barrels, and the barrel rocket from DKCR, though I wonder if they will ever be implemented in anything real.

I have to say what Taxman of Sonic-Retro did with his Sonic engine in terms of accuracy to the original Sonic games is flat-out amazing, conversely. It's pretty much perfect (and also used in the commericial re-release of Sonic CD).

I have no problem with fan games in general. (I'll still load up SRB2 from time to time)
But this... I just don't see anything here that makes it stand out as a game. It's obviously largely unfinished. The person/team working on this really should have waited until there was something more concrete.

i have no right to hate on this cuz they're giving it away for free; so good on these fans for contributing something to the donkey kong world! haha

it does look meh though like i don't understand why they "built it ground-up for pc" my impression was that it was a mediocre rom hack
