Fruits and veggies are actually cheaper than what you bought, fella.REPO Man wrote:I'M NOT RICH! In fact, after giving my mom $200, I had only about $95 left. It depends on who you go with, but prom is mostly a guaranteed way of getting laid. Like, seriously, you'd be surprised how some girls will change their minds about things on that night.3DSStrider wrote:I have had two proms (I think, it might have been just one) in the time I've been in school so far, and been to neither. I just don't get the point. If you want to go on a date, just take someone to Chick-fil-a or something. Don't spend hundreds of dollars on something that lasts one night. That's just stupid.AppleQueso wrote:I never actually went to any of my school dances, prom, etc.
I'm sure people have fond memories of that sort of thing, but honestly I don't regret it.
Yesterday, I went to my grandparents house for Mother's Day, so I brought some games and trounced my cousins at Tobal and Bushido Blade.
Just sayin', as I'm picking up on everything that happened that night now.

A packet of ramen noodles is about $0.10, and a larger bag of several costs about $1. A can of beans is about $1-$2, depending on the company, cans of peas are about $0.69, about the same for canned tomatoes or other vegetables. Ears of corn are usually dirt cheap, apples are often about $1 each, bananas can get pretty cheap depending. And if you shop someplace with a discount card, you can do even better.REPO Man wrote:I'M NOT RICH! In fact, after giving my mom $200, I had only about $95 left. Are apples really a dollar? We have a few trees so it's been awhile since we've boughten them - but it seems when I see them you get a bag of 12-15 for like $5 or so. Bananas, at least here are like $0.60lb, so probably 3/$1.
I mean - I think most of us know it's cheaper to eat healthy than unhealthy - Beans/Rice/Fruits/Veggies are all cheaper than the garb you can stick in the microwave.

Cheapest food on earth = rice. You can get a decent cooker for around $20-25 and a 20lb bag of rice is only like $10 at walmart.

Yeah but ramen (although I friggin LOVE IT) is really high in salt, which can be bad for you. I've known guys who retain a ton of water because of eating tons of ramen.
Although, hotpockets, frozen pizzas and stuff like that are also pretty high in salt.
Whoever mentioned the rice is right on the money. Rice and beans, baby. Rice and beans. Then, maybe once or twice a week, treat yourself with some meat in that rice, or on the side. Pork is always pretty cheap!
Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
Bingo. Also, beef is cheaper, but pork is better. Weird, right? Anyway, I like to make myself some rice, egg, soy, and sarachi with some random veggies in, often green onion or peas. It's not quite fried rice, because it's not fried (boiled rice, soft boiled egg goes directly in) and thus the amount of oil, which is way too much in fried rice, is cut to nothing. Way better this way! Add a little butter if you must, but not much! I think I've only had it a few times while living with my fiancée because she mostly feeds me well.indecks wrote:Whoever mentioned the rice is right on the money. Rice and beans, baby. Protip: don't eat this every day. Have more often a salad: romaine, tomato, onion, boiled egg, feta, olive oil (not too much!), a little bit of vinegar (whichever kind you prefer) and a dash of salt, pepper, and lemon juice. The more salt, the better tasting, but the worse for you. Salt is incredibly bad for the body in high concentrations. A low-sodium diet is far healthier for you than a low-fat diet.
Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
When I first started living on my own, I found out the hard way that it's pretty pricey to live off of Hot Pockets and microwavable foods. I'd buy tons of rice, ramen, and canned veggies. I'd look on the internet for recipes to make use of the cheap crap that I bought, so I wouldn't get sick of eating the same stuff every week. Surprisingly, it was a LOT cheaper to eat healthy despite what everybody says. Luckily, I also lived near an import store that had lots of cheap Japanese rice. I started making my own Sushi and Onigiri at home. Stuff is delicious and filling.
(Also, bought the totino's pizzas from time to time)

Cooked in the oven of course. Wouldn't want to eat the soggy mess you get with them in the microwave.
