How is NS2? I learned the first Natural Selection from a guy who had been rated one of the best Coms in the world, but I still haven't given the sequel a go. Do people still Super Skulk?

I don't know about Super Skulking. I never played the first. Skulks are super weak in NS2, but get ambushed and you're screwed. General rule is to use the buddy system, but even then, if more than 2 jump down on you you'll have some trouble.

NS2 is absolutely fantastic though. The skill ceiling is a bit high and it requires quite a bit of organization and tactical understanding of the maps much like CS, but get into a good game with a good team and the game comes alive as probably one of the best multiplayer FPS games I've ever played. I don't touch the command seat since I'm terrible, but even without that the game is a fantastic example of how compelling asymmetrical team based gameplay can be.

It's a bit of a machine hog though, but it's gotten better. Should be pretty playable on mid-range systems at this point. Also matches can take a bit long, sometimes up to 50 minutes if teams are balanced.

Cool. Sounds like it's fun and relatively similar. And the term "Super Skulk" is used when you have a single skulk player manage to wipe an entire team of marines. Skulks were still reasonably weak in the first Natural Selection, but a decent player who understood their versatility could do some damage, and a lot of people didn't understand the skulk's hitbox. The term came from Flayra screaming "SUPER SKULK! SUPER SKULK! F5 EVERYBODY!" once when AU_Scorpion wiped his entire team of marines as a skulk. Scorp is a buddy of mine and Fastbilly's.

Ah. That typically doesn't happen so much unless you're on a rookie server. It can still happen though.

The one thing that screenshot doesn't capture is just how dark 99% of NS2 is. That's on one of the few bright maps. As far as atmosphere goes it's one of the few multiplayer games that can really create some unsettling tension. The sounds of the skulks running through the vents after they cut out the power and it's pitch black, with only your flashlight and your pistol to aid you, really gives an Aliens vibe that's super addictive. It goes on sale relatively often. I think I paid $15 for it. Even at $25 I'd say it's worth every penny.

I know they are hard to see (resolution is in 5896x2242 for SSBM and 5760x2160 for Diablo 2) so it's probably better to check them out in my photostream (or right-click and view image): http://www.flickr.com/photos/96697966@N08/
What a maneuver!

Dead End Thrills has some stunning screen shots from a ton of games including upscaled Wii shots. Its probably already been mentioned, but I don't feel like sifting though 32 pages to see if it has. http://deadendthrills.com/category/index/
