He also might tone down AVGN in the future because he's a dad now- http://cinemassacre.com/2013/05/12/little-nerd/

Either you have a very weird view on what's brilliant or you have really low standards. Did you listen at all what the old guy was saying? I'd expect dialogue like that from a 12 year old who tries way too hard to be like AVGN. Or from a AVGN parody. Spouting random obscene stuff that has little to no relevance with what's actually happening in the game/in the episode's storyline. Very cringeworthy. Not to mention the exaggerated acting.

Although I'll admit that it was kinda funny see AVGN breaking character and going "WHAT THE FUCK" at the part where they were blowing dust out of the glitching NES cartridge
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

Its brilliant because one thing Kaufman is deranged. The other a creator playing video games based off his creations. Which other than creating the characters I doubt he had much if any input. That's like Stan Lee playing games based off his creations which would be even cooler.

The execution could have been better but the concept was brilliant.

He also did a video interview with Lloyd. I'm too lazy to find it for you, but it's out there. Probably on Cinemassacre. I'd say it's worth a watch for any Troma fan.

Can't wait to check it out when I get off of work.
Didn't realize this sort of humor was so polarizing. Guess I'm part of a rare breed, as I find this shit hilarious...

I'm keeping my expectations pretty low for the movie. I like everything the guy puts out, but one thing I've noticed with these vlog celebrities is that any time they go out of their comfort zone and try to do something bigger it's apparent where their talent begins and ends (it also makes you appreciate just how tough it is to create something).

When the Nostalgia Critic brought on other actors and tried to write skits it was really mediocre, and he's still trying to shoe horn skits into his regular videos and all it's doing is hurting them. If any of you are familiar with MikeJ, he's another guy whose videos I love to death but his movie honestly looks on par with a home movie a bunch of pre-teens wrote and shot. As for AVGN, the trailer was just okay in my opinion. If nothing else it will be cool to see the Nerd in different locales on a real adventure. The writing was kind of bad and even really sophomoric at times, which I didn't expect from him. We'll see how the final product is. I will buy a copy and support the Nerd since he's given me dozens of hours of entertainment over the last few years, and it looked like the production was WAY more elaborate than anything I ever thought they'd get into.

As far as the AVGN web series I watch the new ones asap and check the site just about every day in case there's some new content, but yeah the series has been 'meh' for the last year or two. I know it's cliche but he just isn't as angry anymore. I think he and I are the same age, so I can sympathize (once you approach 30 you're just not quite as passionate about those things anymore) but it seems a little forced nowadays and even a little rushed, and that's before the movie production started too. They're not bad by any means but they feel like if he had a bunch of options he would've moved on to something else awhile ago.

There have still been some classic episodes in that time frame (Ninja Gaiden for one) and the other stuff like Board James and Mike's more casual, random videos are all good IMO, it's just not quite the same. After he got the hang of making the videos and when he was still in his mid-20s was right in the wheelhouse for the show. There are a ton of episodes that are great and he still delivers quality content even if it's not crazy good like before.

You either think someone saying "Oh bullshit fuck fart on a pile of piss" is funny, or you are an adult.

I'm kidding. But I'm not.

I love his "early" stuff when he actually reviewed games. But yeah, people seem to love his new stuff too, which just isn't my bag.
