So what have you guys been watching lately?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Also, you're expecting a comic book adaptation to make sense? Absurdity is part of the genre's appeal in most cases. No offense, but anyone who expects a comic book adaptation to follow normal rules of logic is missing the point entirely.

Where did I reveal my expectations?

Logic does apply to all and every movie, within a frame of reference. Bringing back Coulson was a move to keep fans, not continuity. Studios asked "What? People want more of this guy? Okay... let's just say everyone in SHIELD was in on it".

'Excuse me sir, what about Loki? Was he on it too?'

"I don't know...Whatever. I'm off to lunch"
What's funny is that Joss Whedon has become infamous for killing off beloved characters, sometimes in brutal fashion, and never bringing them back. It seems funny that this guy would be the first time he relents, when it's a character that most people don't even really care that much about LOL. He'll probably have to kill him again after a season or 2 of building him up and getting people invested in him, cause that what Joss does. The moment you really love a character, DIE!!! DIE YOU MOTHERFUCKER DIE!!!!!!

Stabbing fans in the heart time and time again, that's the Whedon way. And we love him for it. It hurts so good.

I thought they would have gone with the Decoy explanation too, but:

It was all a setup by shield to bring the team together. "Bloody Cap cards" included.

As I previously stated, I can glance over how dumb it is because people want more of the character, and you give the audience what they want.

But that explanation would require SHIELD and Loki to be in cahoots.

The bloody Cap cards were already explained to be planted in the movie, as a way to bring the Avengers team closer together, IIRC.

As for Loki and S.H.I.E.L.D. being in on it together, doesn't have to be that way. He could have been seriously injured for real by Loki's attempt, but not quite dead. So S.H.I.E.L.D. could have took advantage of the situation.

Yeah the movie already suggested Fury was playing them because the cards were in his locker not his jacket, which doesn't explicitly mean he was alive, but the last shot of Phil we get is of the medical team running over to him. So really only Fury and the medical guys would have needed to be in on it. I actually half expected to see him alive at the end of the actual movie, so this "twist" isn't that hard for me to believe.

Almost done with Battlestar Galactica--we just finished the season finale of season three and four of the final five have been revealed.

After we finish up BG, we'll be excited to start watching Arrested Development Season IV!

I'm gonna do a little BSG related rant here. I was just listening to a podcast talking about the show. They are obviously fans, but they did one thing that a lot of BSG fans do that annoys the hell out of me. They kept saying that it's not a sci fi show. I get that they are trying to show people that you don't have to be a fan of sci fi to enjoy the show, which is fine. I get that, but let's cut the BS. Call a spade a spade. The show takes place in space. It has robots and space ships and advanced technology beyond anything in the real world. It was created by a guy who worked for years on Star Trek and it aired on the FREAKING SCI FI CHANNEL!!!

Or Syfy as that stupid channel likes to be called now. Anyway, BSG is a goddam sci fi show. People piss me off when they do stuff like that. It is what it is.

Not a sci fi show. Yeah, sure. And that four legged creature with a tail walking around my house and meowing is not a cat

People are so stupid

You mean like The Cape? Or the British comedy Astronauts?

Like the people that say The Dark Knight isn't a comic book movie.

I don't see how it could not be considered a sci-fi show. Just because it's more heavy on the drama and character interaction, doesn't mean it's not a sci-fi show.

And who says The Dark Knight isn't a comic move? Joker, Two-Face, fighting, costumes, FREAKING BATMAN!

And how does everything always seem to come back to Batman in this thread?

You're confusing this thread with the movie thread.
