I genuinely felt excited for James to get to do such a thing - and I love the he left moments in where he broke from character cuz he couldn't help but laugh at Lloyd's ad libs.
I actually couldn't sit through that episode. The last batch of AVGN stuff has been really boring and forced. I still watch it because there are some points that make me laugh. That Toxic Avenger episode just made me cringe. Lloyd Kaufman was unbearable.
That being said, I'm a huge fan of AVGN's earlier stuff and this trailer genuinely made me excited. I got a few "lols".
I was a big Troma fan in high school and college. Haven't kept up in close to a decade haha. But I loved Terror Firmer and Citizen Toxie, which were the last ones I saw.

Agreed.

Agreed.
Amazing for James to record an episode with one of his inspirations and heroes, hats off to him. And also very nice of Lloyd to record the episode as you can tell James was having a blast.
I'll chime in: I really enjoyed the episode, although it isn't one of my favorites by far.
Looking forward to the movie, and I don't think it will disappoint. James is putting a lot of love into it, and I can't even get enough of his little "Board James" shorts.
I agree that the AVGN character in general is starting to get old, and I think he knows it. This movie maybe a way form him to start doing something slightly different with AVGN, or a way of ending it all together. We'll have to see.
Well, he said awhile back that he eventually wants to leave AVGN behind and start making features, so the AVGN movie is, ideally, supposed to get his foot in the door. If it also serves as the series finale, that's two birds with one stone.
I'm not a glitch, I just have pixlexia.

That last episode with Lloyd Kaufmann was pretty awful to me but it was good for James to be able to make it with one of his inspirations. It was definitely an episode made more for James himself than the viewers, which may not be great for us unless we like Troma and/or Lloyd Kaufmann (personally I'm not a fan of either) but it might just be something he needs to do to try and change the pace and keep things interesting.
The episode before this where he had Kyle ad-libbing songs and doing a bit of co-op in Ikari Warriors was also different from his usual. I actually thought some bits of it were funny. After a movie and 100+ episodes riding on a one trick pony of a character he's got to be running out of ideas, inspiration, and probably enthusiasm. This might be why he's trying to branch out into different territory with the familiar character or doing unique things with it for himself while he's still popular enough to get them done.
I would hope that he can find a good way to put the AVGN character to rest on a high note and move on to something new. His stuff outside of AVGN like Board James and movie reviews are great. I also like just seeing James Rolfe himself do game commentary with Mike.
The Toxic Avenger!! I had been searching for this movie for such a long time, mainly because of one child hood memory I had.
As a kid I remember watching the cartoon of it and loving it. One day my brother and I were staying with my Grandpa and walked over to the local Jumbo Video (does anyone remember those? haha) to rent some movies. I was probably about 6 years old at the time and I saw The Toxic Avenger live action vhs sitting there. I asked my grandpa if I could rent it, and told him it's a cartoon that I watch all the time. I guess he wasn't paying much attention, and rented it for me. We took it home and put it on. Of course, I was loving the crap out of it! But after about 5 minutes (possibly less? haha) my grandpa angrily stood up and screamed "Alright, that's it, we're turning this off!!!". I think I cried... I couldn't understand why he was so upset, I watched the cartoons ALL the time!! hahaha.
