So what have you guys been watching lately?

Anyway, I watched the series finale of Friday Night Lights yesterday. A pretty solid ending to a great show.
I also enjoyed FNL a lot, and my only major gripe would be "Does every game have to come down to 4th down in the 4th Quarter?"
Fair point, the one thing that bugged me with the finale was
them pairing Riggins and Tyra again, and basically forgetting that her and Landry ever had a relationship. At least Riggins and Lyla had some closure when she visited from college. Landry and Tyra ended abruptly when she stood him up, and was never mentioned again

Also, what ever happened to the prison kid who was living with Buddy Garretty?
All in all, still a great show, despite my few gripes. I feel bad that I never watched it when it was on the air. I kept hearing people buzz about it, but on paper it just didn't sound like an interesting show. It's only when I later started watching it on Netflix that I finally understood why it got so much acclaim.

I REALLY wanted to get into this, but couldn't get past the first few episodes. I found it very dry, and had just finished going through TNG in order for the first time. I may try to revisit it, as I did see some later episodes on TV during it's original air and really enjoyed them.[/quote]

I am going to have to try and motivate you here. While I agree the beginning isn't the show's strong point, but once your start to gain a relationship with the show, its one of those you just have to stay up all night and finish every single episode. Or is that just me :?
Don't hate the player, hate the (video)game.

Just watched the commercial for SHIELD. No clue how this is going to turn out, but I hope for the best.

It's got Phil Coulson as one of the lead characters. How bad can it be?

An ABC original tv series bad.

The explanation on how Phil lived is dumb as rocks, but I can glance over it.

What, no love for Once Upon A Time? Shame on you.

Also, you're expecting a comic book adaptation to make sense? Absurdity is part of the genre's appeal in most cases. No offense, but anyone who expects a comic book adaptation to follow normal rules of logic is missing the point entirely.

That pretty much applies to all sci fi and fantasy too. I've kind of given up on genre shows like that or comic book stories making sense. The story and character arcs are more important than the minute details. I mean Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker is one of my favorite Batman movies, and yet the movie's entire plot is built on an idea that is completely ridiculous.

You just reminded me I have to go watch Once Upon a Time on my DVR. I started watching last night and then got distracted by a certain aggravating person in my life and didn't get to see the second half of the episode. The show got renewed for another season, so that's pretty awesome news as I heard its ratings have gone down. Seems like they green lit the Wonderland spin off too. The Disneyland commercial featuring the queen is awesome by the way. I love that they are tying the show into Disney as part of their advertising as the show has always borrowed stuff from Disney movies anyway.

Where did I reveal my expectations?

Logic does apply to all and every movie, within a frame of reference. Bringing back Coulson was a move to keep fans, not continuity. Studios asked "What? People want more of this guy? Okay... let's just say everyone in SHIELD was in on it".

'Excuse me sir, what about Loki? Was he on it too?'

"I don't know...Whatever. I'm off to lunch"

What is the explanation, exactly?

First thing that popped in my head is a Life-Model Decoy, Fury has used em a dozen times.

Me and the gf have been recently watching x-files from the beginning. Almost to season 2. I was pretty young when it came out so I didn't watch it alot but I remember watching some episodes and then having nightmares lol. Its overall really good for a 20 year old show even if most of the effects in it haven't aged well.
