Thoughts on the new Star Wars movies?

Post by Hyp81 »

So enough of us here are true geeks that there must be both rabid Star Wars fans along with casual fans. What are everyone's thoughts on the new movies?

I am a rabid fan and am setting myself up to be disappointed. I have a timeline in my head from reading all the books and comics, and playing all the games... and if they deviate from that timeline I will be disgruntled about it. I am still trying to overcome my aversion to the most recent trilogy.

LUCAS I mean Disney does not care about you.

They want your kids money and your parents money who supply money to those kids.

Disney has wisely bought the franchise so they will keep pumping out stuff indefintely for the next few decades.

Mickey and crew have been an estabishment for many generations. They will do the same to Starwars characters.

Your Grandparents, your parents and you are fans. Thats what Disney likes.

So shut up and give them your money.

Your'e still gonna buy the stuff.

Note the use of the qualifier "most". Unless this is a reference to fingers-in-your-ears the prequels never happened.

I'm a huge Star Wars fan and I can't wait to see what Disney does with it. I really enjoyed the prequels (yes, even Jar Jar) and I think they did an excellent job of separating the real fans from those who only pretend to be. If you want to clarify that you're a fan of the original trilogy, that's one thing. Nothing wrong with that. But I have met so many people claiming to be Star Wars fans but all they do is complain and I'm sorry, but you can't say you're a fan of something and then immediately follow that statement with a long rant about everything that's wrong with it. Fandom does not work that way.

Well said, completely agree.

I enjoyed the prequels and I'm glad that they made them. I don't know that much about what Disney is planning for the next round of films but I really hope that they don't screw it up and then pound it into the ground

The prequels were just dull. Saw them in the theater when they were released, have no desire to ever watch them again. Don't care about the new stuff.

I love the original three movies, have them on VHS.

Ya gotta admit, the Battle Of Geonosis in Episode 2 was awesome, as was the podrace in Episode 1 and all of the battle scenes in Episode 3. I can see where people would be bored by all of the political stuff, though. Perhaps if he'd focused less on that and more on the action, the prequels wouldn't have as many haters.
