Concealed weapons permit?
Yes. For some reason they are termed "Handgun Carry permits" in TN.
Double-check what it allows you to do. It may be that the permit also allows open carry, which is why it is referred to as Handgun Carry. Here in Georgia we don't get concealed carry licenses, we get Georgia Weapons Licenses, which allows for concealed and open carry of firearms as well as carrying long knives or other implements.

Either way, it's a smart thing to have if you own sidearms but prepare for any routine traffic stop to take a bit longer now that you have the permit.
Be sure to give the police your weapons license when you give them your ID and insurance info, and tell them when you do if you have a weapon in the car. A friend of mine got out of a ticket because he handed the officer his weapons license at the start of a traffic stop. The cop smiled, said "Stay safe," and let him go. But it was rural Georgia, so..yeah.

Wow it's really really strange to see how much these types of permits vary state to state. Yes our handgun carry permit do allow for open carry. Long knives and switchblades are illegal here in TN. Anything with a blade over 4 inches is illegal apparently. You do have to be careful when traveling though. I read all these news story's of these fucking morons who get arrested in some states thinking their permit is valid there. Yeah telling law enforcement that you have a weapon in the car is kinda a no brainer. You definitely don't want them finding that by surprise.

Stuff like this is what I'm talking about

This also happened to some nurse from TN like two years ago. All it takes is one phone call to avoid something like this.

Solid advice. The officer will already know you own one, but giving him your license right off the bat makes his job easier. And as Ack mentioned, let the officer know immediately if you have a weapon. And let him know exactly what and where.

You make it easy for the cop, he'll take it easy on you (generally. I once got out of a speeding ticket for being 'very compliant').

I don't understand people who have allot of disrespect for law enforcement. I have a friend who constantly speeds and then acts like a total ass to whoever pulls him over. Guys just doing his job. Cops are not a problem around here. We are an unincorporated town on the outskirts of the county. Better hope you don't need the cops because it'll take them 30 minutes to get here.

Most people's issues with cops stem from family. Despite having family that are cops, I'm not particularly fond of police. My explanation, though not the best, is the fact that police are there to enforce the law, NOT to protect you. I've personally saw a case where a friend was arrested for assault and battery of a minor, despite the fact that he was protecting himself from a teenager with a knife. (Once it got into court and some video footage was shown, he got off, but the cops that night were REALLY being dicks about the whole thing.)

Also, my family has an issue with it due to hunting laws. My great grandfather and his brothers survived the depression mainly due to the fact that they poached and hunted illegally. Thus, it has streamed down a bit to dislike cops around hunting season. Again, not good reasoning, just something gained from family.

The first time I saw a picture Brooke Hogan, I thought "damn, she fly." Then I noticed how much she looks like her father, and I was a very confused little hulkomaniac.

I would imagine that looking for a job with a BA in psych is a lot like speed dating.

"Hi. I'm .."

'nope'

Yeah, but at least it's better than a looking for a job with a philosophy degree. People with a philosophy degree ask "but WHY do you want fries with that?"

Nah. People with philosophy degrees philosophize on why they went into philosophy. Or they go on to teach (a Phd in philosophy apparently can land you a job teaching graduate level teaching business courses. I know. What up wit dat?).

I've decided to start jogging. I went for my first run tonight and though my legs are a tad noodley, I feel fantastic.

I know there are at least a couple of runners on here (Bone and Ryan come to mind). Anyone have any suggestions for a beginner?
