Then I guess you can't accept my opinions. The show is just too damn dark and depressing, ALL-THE-TIME. We seem to agree on a lot of other similar interests, though.Gamerforlife wrote:The BSG reboot is just one of those shows. When people say they don't like it, I feel like I can no longer take their opinions on anything TV related seriously any more. Yeah, I know. I sound like a TV snob.
So what have you guys been watching lately?

Not to mention that they got just about everything wrong. Really, it was BSG in name only. I don't mind a reboot deviating from the original, but at the very least, I expect it to at least superficially resemble the original and BSG did not. At all. If you're not a fan of the original series, fine, but to someone who is, the new series was a travesty.BurningDoom wrote:The show is just too damn dark and depressing, ALL-THE-TIME.

I never watched the original BSG, and I honestly don't care. The reboot was just a damn good show, and to say that it sucked just because it wasn't your BSG is just ridiculous. You can't accurately judge the quality of something if you can't put your biases aside. I don't think they ever set out to redo the old show anyway. They just borrowed some ideas from it.Retrodude wrote:Not to mention that they got just about everything wrong. Really, it was BSG in name only. That's a personal pet peeve of mine, when people say that something sucks just because they have unrealistic expectations of it. I can understand BurningDoom's view. It's a dark show and that's a good enough reason to not want to watch it, but saying that it sucks just because it's not the old BSG is silly. That's not a valid argument against a show's quality. Essentially you're saying all reboots suck, just because it's not the same show. That's silly. I mean, that's the POINT of a reboot. It's not supposed to be the same show

On other note, last night's Nikita was awesome! Incidentally, that show is another example of an awesome reboot. I'm so happy they got renewed too. The show's ratings are ridiculously low, yet they got renewed anyway. Thank you CW for giving quality TV a chance and not being Fox.

BSG was amazing, and ground breaking. Kudos to the show.
Re: So what have you guys been watching lately?
All I'm saying is, they should have called it something else because it is not Battlestar Galactica. The Star Trek reboot is very different from what came before, but it's still recognizably Star Trek. If you're gonna take the name of something, you should try and retain at least some of the elements that made the original successful to begin with. If you're not gonna do that, don't take the name. And that's all I'm gonna say about that because I don't want to start an argument.

I also enjoyed FNL a lot, and my only major gripe would be "Does every game have to come down to 4th down in the 4th Quarter?"Gamerforlife wrote:
Anyway, I watched the series finale of Friday Night Lights yesterday. A pretty solid ending to a great show.
That's simply not the way it works. Like BD concerning Mandarin, you've got to let that stuff go. Nobody is flipping out that the Marvel movies mixes the Ultimate series with the Original series (WTF? Nick Fury? Black? Sam Jackson as Fury? WTF!?!?!). The new BSG had Battles, Stars, and Galaxies. 'Nuff for me.Retrodude wrote:If you're gonna take the name of something, you should try and retain at least some of the elements that made the original successful to begin with.

I'd also like to point out that I didn't say "I didn't like it", if that was at all pointed at me. I said "I couldn't get into it" at the time. I really want to give it a second chance, because I think I'd really like it, but I tried watching it during a really low point in my life and it just didn't appeal to me at the time.

SHIELD's biggest secret is that the man presented as Nick Fury was not actually Nick Fury. He was just some white guy they dug up. The real Nick Fury has always been Sam Jackson, busy kicking ass in the background. Why do you think the villians in the Marvel Universe never win? Sam Jackson has been sabotaging their efforts since day one, while letting so-called "Super heroes" take the credit.Luke wrote:(WTF? Nick Fury? Black? Sam Jackson as Fury? WTF!?!?!).
