I played two battles tonight on the way back to Granseal, and no casualties..... except for Slade.

So, first of all, sand is annoying. Just referring to the terrain discussion from earlier.

Second:
Vengeance is mine! The kraken is officially sushi. I didn't use that trick to lure him in either. I cut him down tentacle by tentacle, and it was glorious.

I still lost a couple of guys (Slade, Luke, and Kazin, who was the victim of a one shot), but overall I kicked ass, and man that feels good.

So I just made it to the
Chess board battle.

I actually nearly won. I had the king down to one hp when one of the bishops healed him, followed immediately by another healing from the other bishop. It was a downward spiral from there.

I was rushing it though, hoping I could wipe him out quick and win the fight with little trouble. A more sensible strategy should take it. The enemies here are really strong. It might just end up being a very patient battle.

I'm Getting ahead of myself, I lost a battle that I havent had troble with since the very first time I played the game.
The fight after you recruit Kazin. Thankfully its a story fight so losing it doesnt give a game over, but that one defeat on bowie will haunt me the rest of the game

Jumped in tonight via Fusion on my Linux netbook :?

Not my preferred way of playing, but I really wanted to start early and take my time as I am a complete noob to SRPG's. I dont own the original or any other ports. Thinking about maybe getting a controller of some kind to plug into my netbook. I think if i do this, it will be awesome to quickly boot this up and put some serious hours in.

I basically watched the intro and fought the 1st fight and decided to save after being sent on the my first trip to go get someone. Liking what i am seeing so far. Looking forward to progressing.

Its a little quiet over here today....maybe everyones playing. Really loving this game.

Playing on normal and only having a few issues here and there in battles. Nice and easy for the most part. I think this difficulty suits me so far as I am enjoying the fast story progression and I can get quite a bit done in an hour or two.
