Iron Man 3.
Good movie, but I'm SEVERLY disappointed with The Mandarin. One of the coolest villains in the Marvel Universe, IMO, and Iron Man's arch nemesis, and they completely screw it up. As bad as Dr. Doom in the Fantastic Four movie, as far as I'm concerned.
They better do Thanos right in Avengers 2.

Have you seen the movie? Because The Mandarin isn't even like the same guy. We're not talking about just a costume change or a different origin or something here.Retrodude wrote:BurningDoom wrote:Iron Man 3.

It's nothing personal. All comic book fans sound like him when they compare the comics to the movies when everyone knows you can't do that because different mediums have different storytelling requirements. Just sayin'.

Yeah, you really just need to see the movie before you continue with this conversation. You're completely wrong in this case.Retrodude wrote:It's nothing personal. Must be great for you guys to not care about source material at all.stickem wrote:i'm glad i haven't cared for comic books in like 20 yrs since jr high so i can enjoy these movies.
Just because it's comics, it's nerdy to care that the movie reflects the source material somewhat? It's like if The Joker was portrayed as non-threatening joke (no pun intended) in the Dark Knight. Or if Darth Vader was a coward. It's Iron Man's ARCH-NEMESIS for crying out loud, not some minor character.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
The unfolding of the Mandarin plotline was one of the few things Iron Man 3 did right.
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
The Mandarin thing in Iron Man 3 was brilliant. It destroyed (in a good way) the audience I saw it with.
edit*Just realized I got away with not having to screen GATSBY.
I'm using my exception card, right now. I'm not judging the movie, it's that I don't want to see it. At all. Usually I wouldn't gauge my interest in a movie from reviews, but this is my exception.
Even the positive reviews make me not want to see it. "Non-stop feast for the eyes"? Wait!!! A non-stop feast for the eyes from Baz Luhrmann? Been there a few times, never cared for it.
So I beat on.
edit numero dos* GRAVITY trailer
There is no sound in space. Still, it looks interesting as long as I didn't just see the entire film in the trailer.
Wait. How can you travel at the speed of sound in space if space doesn't allow for sound?

Deviations from the source material are rarely a strong criticism in my eyes, and that goes for pretty much anything.BurningDoom wrote: Must be great for you guys to not care about source material at all.![]()
All that matters is how things work in the context they're given in.
