So what have you guys been watching lately?

The pilot is fantastic ... the rest of the show isn't.

I'll save people some time:
Do they get home? Yes, many times. It's dumb. (Earth isn't their home)
Yeah, but that stupid spoiler you're referring to is after Sci-Fi Channel took it over.

Seasons 1-3 of Sliders was awesome, I thought. A new parallel world every week. It had a great sense of discovery and exploration, which I loved. And great actors.

Seasons 3-5 (or maybe 6, not sure) was terrible. That's when they tried to add twists like what you're talking about, and half the cast was changed. Sliders without John Rhys-Davies and Jerry O'Connel just isn't Sliders. And Jerry's brother, Charlie O'Connel has to be one of the worst actors I've ever seen, right up there with the original Resident Evil's voice-actors.

I've been watching Battlestar Galactica (the newer version). Every episode that goes by, I become more astonished at how good this series is.

I've also been watching a bit of the Dollhouse, which is a fun and campy head trip.

Also, the 1980's "Friday the 13th:: The Series", which has nothing to do with Jason.

I remember being quite upset about that, back then. How is it, regardless?

It's cheesy, but some of the episodes are fun. My wife loved it as a kid, so it's a big nostalgia trip for her. I bought the DVDs for her as a birthday present.

BurningDoom wrote:While you guys are on a sci-fi kick, you should watch the first few seasons (FOX seasons) of Sliders. Great stuff. When they moved to the Sci-Fi Channel, though, (after season 3, I believe) the quality of the show sharply dropped.
I caught a few episodes and really wasn't impressed.
However, this might have been the Post-Fox ones.

I REALLY wanted to get into this, but couldn't get past the first few episodes. I found it very dry, and had just finished going through TNG in order for the first time. I may try to revisit it, as I did see some later episodes on TV during it's original air and really enjoyed them.

ABC Orders Whedon's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." to Series

This Fall, Joss Whedon will once again have a series on network television. "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.LD." pilot was ordered by ABC last August, and now various sources including Entertainment Weekly, IGN and SitcomcsOnline are reporting that ABC has all but publicly confirmed the pilot has been picked up to series.

Directed by "The Avengers" helmer Whedon and co-written by Whedon along with "Dollhouse" veterans Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, the series spins out of the events of "The Avengers" and stars Clark Gregg, returning to his fan-favorite role as Agent Phil Coulson, and Marvel Universe newcomers Brett Dalton, Ming-Na-Wen, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge and Chloe Bennet.

Amidst the flurry of reports about the pickup, ABC also briefly released a 7-second teaser on the youtube page that was pulled soon after its release according to Slashfilm. The video features a rampaging Hulk caught on video, as well as a logo reading "Rising Tide." You can view the teaser embedded below.

Cool. So how long do you think it'll be before comic book fans go from "OMG AWESOME" to "OMG THEY RUINED IT SCREW DISNEY". I'm betting two episodes tops.

S.H.I.E.L.D. has always been a side thing in the Marvel Universe, not a main character or main book. Something that would show up from time to time in stories of other books. So there's not really this established mythos other than it's a top-secret spy agency set in the Marvel Universe, and Nick Fury ran it for a while.

Ive made a Japanese themed video mixtape since I watch a ton of video game, anime and other japanese related things on youtube. If anyone wants a link to my torrent you can message me to friend me on FB. I like making friends.

Also been watching a ton of Nostalgia Critic reviews, 3 friends Ive told about dont like him after they started watching the videos I was. Somehow I guess I got used to him after watching the Mortal Kombat Annihilation and Street Fighter reviews.

Also watched The Daily Show last night and freak New Jack was on in one segment, thought F4Wonline was being ribbed, but nope, he was on. Weird weird weird.

The BSG reboot is just one of those shows. When people say they don't like it, I feel like I can no longer take their opinions on anything TV related seriously any more. Yeah, I know. I sound like a TV snob.

Anyway, I watched the series finale of Friday Night Lights yesterday. A pretty solid ending to a great show. I had a few gripes with the last few episodes, but nothing major. I just disliked one romantic pairing we got in the end, which I felt sort of came out of nowhere. All in all a great series finale though.

It might be time for me to finally watch Veronica Mars season 3 in light of the upcoming movie. Or maybe I'll finally start watching Sons of Anarchy or Downton Abbey, can't decide.
