I wish I could get fibre optic in my house. I'm just too far out in the middle of nowhere. I guess that's the price you pay when you live want to live in a huge house with loads of land. Oh well

Re: connection-speeds
I'd be happy with 50 down. That's double of what I have currently, and I consider what I have more than adequate. As long as I can watch 1080p videos without having to wait I'm happy.

Re: connection-speeds
I've got a 16 Mbps connection and I can watch 1080p without having to wait, assuming the site I'm using is having a good day.

Re: connection-speeds

It's been nearly a year since I upgraded from 1.5mbps DSL, and I love this. This was the fastest speed tier here for a while. But now, they're offering 60mbps and coming soon, 90mbps
This is still plenty fast, plus no caps or throttling. Love it.

Re: connection-speeds

This is actually a good day for my speed. I get half than that on average, and during really lousy days I will even slow down to dial up speeds (less than 52kbps downstream). I'm the only one using the Internet.
My case is par for the course in residential accounts in my country (the Philippines). There are faster speeds but they're either exclusive to business accounts or so expensive that the only subscribers that can afford them are businesses.
We only have 3 major providers in here, and two of those are sister companies. All 3 providers have been investigated by the National Telecommunications Commission several times for price-fixing, and for overselling their capacity but nothing came of it. We're currently ranking very high on the list of Asian countries with most corrupt governments, btw.

Re: connection-speeds
I've had this package for almost a couple years now

The speeds are rock solid consistent. It's frontier fiber optics (Had since Verizon owned the lines). They go up to 50Mbps, but it's far too expensive.
I think it'd be neat to have 100Mbps Google Fiber .... but I'd be really concerned if Google was adding what I was looking at to some profile they had of me >_>
