I love the Layton games, but I've always thought that strip was great. First time I saw it I busted out laughing.

I have it saved and every time I come across it while poking through my files it makes me smile.

Yeah, I found it pretty funny too. It's pretty accurate too. I actually got annoyed by how NPCs constantly wanted me to solve puzzles in Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask. It slows down the pacing of the story a lot. I guess that's just the Layton formula, but it seems like they could have achieved a better balance between puzzles and story.

"Hey buddy, can you tell me how to get to this place on the map so I can advance the story?"

"Only if you solve this puzzle"

"But the last three people I talked to made me do a puzzle. Can I just get some damn plot advancement already"

"NO! You must solve more puzzles!"

"Why does this game even HAVE a story. You could have just called it Puzzles: The Game"

The stories can be so good though! I have not played through The Last Specter or The Miracle Mask yet, but The Unwound Future has one of the most touching stories in any video game. Moreover, I found the stories in both The Curious Village and The Diabolical Box very affecting.

Yeah Unwound Future was great, I think Gamerforlife would quite like that one.

Miracle Mask didn't blow me away, but I'm still curious about the other Layton games. I will certainly try them. My favorite thing about Miracle Mask was really the DLC puzzles, which are still being released. They're very addicting. The idea of getting free DLC every day for a full calendar year is pretty amazing

I think most of the Layton games (if not all) had the free DLC puzzles. I couldn't speak to if they're still available or not though. I'm in the same boat as prfsnl_gmr though and I've played the first three, but not the last two. I'll probably play Miracle Mask before Last Specter though as I haven't gotten it yet.
