Re: RPG Progress Report
I just finished up the Tripillar in Wild Arms, and went to the Volcannon Trap with Calamity Jane. I'm still finding this game a bit dull unfortunately.

Gurumin
Eh, kind of irked honestly.
This game has a feature that allows you to transport out of any dungeon at will. I figured it was a useful tool to use if you ended up really low on HP. Turns out you can actually get stuck in dungeons (by messing up switch/box/whatever puzzles) and teleporting out is the only way to escape (all the puzzles are reset when you do this, of course).
Pretty irritating. I was about 20 minutes deep into a dungeon last night when this happened. When you only have an hour to squeeze in some gaming each day that's a lot of time down the tubes.
I spent the other 40 minutes on a ridiculous fetch quest trying to return a sombrero to some French (not Mexican) monster. What did I get for all my troubles? A picture. Yes, a picture. What can you do with it? Well, you can look at it of course, what else! It's like one of the bromides from Lunar, except this one doesn't display any scantily clad women.
This is, I dunno, a 6 out of 10 game for me so far - but I feel compelled to finish it. It's not horrible, but it is really repetitive - probably the weakest Falcom title I've played next to Brandish.

Re: RPG Progress Report
Continuing on in 7th Saga. I'm now at Pell, having just made the trip through the cave from Eygus. I now have my first rune, the Wind Rune! And my search for the Water Rune is pointing towards the next town on my route.
Kamil and Valsu are both doing well, sitting pretty at levels 20 and 19 respectively. MPCatcher has proven to be a required spell to keep Valsu going, though his high MP has allowed me to use Ice 1 consistantly to fend off enemies while Kamil heals with Heal 1 outside of battle. So to level, I sit them wherever I want them to gain experience, and then use Kamil to heal outside of battle, thus preserving Valsu's MP even longer. Kamil is, of course, still pulling his weight in battle as my tank, so enemies that probably should be posing a big threat are easily beaten down. I managed to beat the third boss after a couple of rounds of buffing with three hits: two defend-hits from Kamil and one blast of Ice 1 from Valsu.
So far, these have been my level arrangements per boss: (Boss 1) Kamil 10, (Boss 2) Kamil 14, (Boss 3) Kamil 18, Valsu 17. I'm looking forward to pushing on with the game. Got to get Valsu up to the early 40s, where he gets that God spell I hear about so much.

The runes kick ass! Make sure you use and abuse them frequently.
The God spell is earned at level 42 I believe.......
Re: RPG Progress Report
Thanks for the head's up! I have a goal now.
Hey Bone, could you give me a brief idea of where I am in the game? I figure I'm still close to the beginning, but about what percentage am I in the game? 5%? 10%?

Hmmmm.......... It would be tough to give you a completely accurate answer as I haven't played the game in some time. The towns are all kind of blurred together in my head.
I will say this - I played with the same two characters as you and the entire game took about 37.5 hours. I can check my final levels when I get home later.
Re: RPG Progress Report
Sure, I would appreciate it. I think I'm around 10 hours in, but I have spent a lot of time leveling.

Okay, my memory was a bit fuzzy.
My time at the last save point was 35:49. There's probably 30-45 minutes of play time after that final save point, assuming you don't get lost in the somewhat-confusing final dungeon.
Final levels:
Kamil - 58
Valsu - 57
Re: RPG Progress Report
Awesome, thanks! So I'm probably a little over a fourth of the way through it. Hey, not bad.

I know from experience I would want my primary to be a physical tank, so the dwarf, the alien, the robot, or the human knight were the ones I wanted to pick from. What was the alien like to play as? And for those who played a lot of 7th Saga, who was your favorite character to play as?
Tough at first, I'll admit, with no weapon. After a bit of grinding, it got much easier. He gets Fire1 at level 5, Firebird at level 9. and Fire2 at level 12.
