Thank god. I'm glad that came out because it's HIGHLY, HIGHLY, unlikely that there was ever any truth to the rumor of it being online only. It was pure FUD from day one, and I'm going to maintain that till there's real proof otherwise. If it weren't for all the very MS haters out there I doubt this dumb rumor would've gotten so much steam.

Well there was that guy from MS who got fired after tweeting a bunch of nonsense defending the idea.
I'm sure Microsoft at least had it under consideration. I feel like there's some truth to Opwok's theory there, they may have leaked out the rumor to test the waters and backed off when they saw the negative reaction.
...of course all of us are just pulling things out of our ass, we aren't likely to ever really know.
The only reason I don't like MS calling their new system the Xbox is that the Xbox brand today stands for a very different type of gaming experience than it did in the oXbox days. Heck, even the 360 landscape has changed quite a bit since the beginning of this gen.
