I also wonder why nobody has created an actual Myst island. It isn't too big so it's not exactly farfetched
That thought probably crossed Richard Garriott's mind back in the day
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

Garriott would have promised Myst, but delivered Zork - The Great Underground Empire.

Many years ago there was a Calculator game called Joltima. It was a very well made RPG that was supposed to be like Ultima Exodus meets Dragon Warrior. I enjoyed it the dozen or so times I beat it in on my TI82 in highschool. Well when it popped in my mind today and I discovered that the Justin from Joltima tried to make a GBC game in the early 2000s called Infinity:

Sadly it was canceled due to lack of interest from a publisher since the GBA was just released, but it looks awesome.

That's neat - I really wish there was some database of old TI calculator games as there were some classics. I had a Super Mario Bros. game on the TI-86 that came complete with a level editor. And I had Tetris as well, of course.

Maybe I should collect japanese RPGs while they are dirt cheap incase they invent something like google glass that lets you see text in another language in your native one. Seems like that technology seems possible in my lifetime

I studied Japanese for about an hour a day and could play import RPGs in about 1.5 years time.

But you know? It would suck, because if you are big enough of a fan to replicate Myst Island then you are big enough of a fan to know how to solve the puzzles!
Looking for a cool game? Find it in my blog!
