Hi there,
The topic says it all. My Genesis is only playing in black and white. I just bought this genesis off of amazon. I also bought new A/V cables. Does anyone have any idea what the problem is here?
Thanks!

Anyone know what could be wrong with the system or my cables?

your chroma pin is burned out on the board. take off the big metal heat sync on your board and look at the large sony chip beneath. you should see a pin on the left side either burned or desoldered from the board.

I'm guessing if the solder is just gone he could resolder it on, while if the pin is burned he'll need a new one?

This sounds more like a cool mod then a broken system. I may have to try this one of my spare genny's.

If the problem is the pin being desoldered you can probably just solder it back. Are you using RF? I know its a long shot but you might have the switch on the wrong channel and you get an ugly picture and B/Wthejamessea wrote:Is there any way to fix this?fox099 wrote:your chroma pin is burned out on the board. take off the big metal heat sync on your board and look at the large sony chip beneath. you should see a pin on the left side either burned or desoldered from the board.

Are you playing through a set of component inputs on the TV? Some TVs use AV and component on the same set of inputs, but you might have to manually adjust some settings in the TV's menus. I have to switch component-in on and off depending on what's plugged in. Otherwise, it thinks "yellow" on the RCA cable is one of the separated component signals.
