I'm not alone on that one.

Are you sure it isn't the DK rap? It has been known to induce vomiting, and I keep a copy of the game next to a bottle of ipecac in case on of my children accidentally ingests poison.
I LOVE the monkey rap!
Monkey rap is awesome and you know it!

- I think Dr. Wily's Theme from Mega Man 2 is among the most overrated NES songs of all time. I don't even have MM2 but I've heard it enough to never want to hear it again for a long time. The Moon theme from Duck Tales is pretty high up there too.
- Gemini Man's theme from MM3 is one of, if not the best MM songs in the entire classic MM catalog.
- You know the version of Guile's Theme from the "Guile's Theme goes with everything" meme (the one from the arcade SSFII Turbo)? I HATE THAT VERSION SO MUCH! I can't believe THAT version is the one associated with the meme. Should have been the SNES version from World Warrior/Turbo. I'd take the Champion Edition version from the Genesis over the arcade SSFII Turbo version. I'd even take the Game Boy version.
Not a single thing there I agreed with. Those particular chip-tunes are awesome!

On that note: Crash Team Racing is the best kart racer of the 32/64 bit generation. Given that about 85-90% of kart racers were made during the PS1/Saturn/Dreamcast days, that's saying a lot.
I haven't played Mario Kart 7 or the Sega&Sonic All stars racing-series, but I can say that atleast before those two games came along, Crash Team Racing was the kart racer game of all time.

I wonder what happened to the whole kart racer genre? During the 16-bit era (counting 3DO, CD32, Jag, 32X etc as 16-bit here) there weren't that many games like this given how new the genre was and the limitations of the Genesis and SNES. B.C Racers and Atari Karts are probably most famous games from that era besides Mario Kart. Then came the PS1&N64 and the genre just exploded. Speed freaks, The Land Before Time: Great Valley Racing Adventure, Toy Story Racer, Diddy Kong Racing, Wacky Races, Muppet Race Mania, Crash Team Racing, Mario Kart 64, Chocobo racing, Micro Maniacs, South Park Rally, Walt Disney World Quest: Magical Racing Tour, Looney Tunes space race etc. During the PS2-generation there were signifcantly less games, but the genre was still alive thanks to titles such as Mad Dash Racing, Cartoon Network Racing and The Flintstones: bedrock racing. But during current console generation Mario Kart Wii was pretty much the only kart racer there was before S&S ASR was released.
It's kind of the same with 3D platformers. Every one was doing it during the PS1 generation, on the PS2 the genre existed but there were a lot less games compared to the previous generation and during the PS3 generation the genre was dead.
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

This happened to me too, back when my GB was my only gaming device. I owned 2 games, both of which I had cleared multiple times, so I relied on rentals to see what cool games were out there. I happened to rent Final Fantasy Legends, knowing nothing about FF at the time, and the entire time I had it, I was very ill. Having no experience with RPGs, I was already a little confused by the game, but being sick made me just hate it, and it actually made me think that all FF games were like this, and thus all sucked.

Now that I can appreciate the FF games, and even early SaGa games (FFL3 is epic), everything about FFL makes me sick to my stomach.
lmao, guess I'm not alone. The weird thing is I mostly enjoyed DK64 from what I played and I tried to get 100% I think, but yeah. I never played it again afterwards and since then 10+ years later or whatever, when I think about it again I just seriously feel like it throws me off in a bad way. Maybe if I replayed it I could remedy those feelings, or maybe I'll definitely need a bag next to me...

Eh, genres go in and out of fashion. Part of it I'm sure is also the demographics of the kind and age of people playing the games. All those kids that made cutesy 3D platformers popular are all grown up now, and are probably wanting more mature experiences.

That said. I 100% agree that CTR is the best kart racer of that era. However, Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed has, at least in my opinion, stolen the pole position away from it. That game is just incredible as a kart racer. 5 player local is amazing on WiiU as well, and the minigames aren't bad by any means, and online 8 player matches are just as fun as you'd imagine.

Mario Kart 7 I feel mixed on. On the one hand, it still has the blue shell in all of it's infuriating glory. The rest of the game though, is at least as good as CTR. It still doesn't match Transformed in my opinion though. It's the best mobile kart game though, and it's great for online and local play.

Glad to see I am not the only one who prefers CTR over most racing games of that era. Seriously, Mario Kart 64 is not that great of a game. The only track I really liked from it was Toad Turnpike. It also has what I consider to be the worst rainbow road in the series. Diddy kong was a bit better as it had more content, but I feel that CTR really got it right.

Have you guys played Crash Nitro Kart? Even though it was developed by a different team, I think it's an excellent follow up. Since Disney apparently doesn't want to make a Sugar Rush game, CNK is my kart racer of choice these days.

I played 5 player mode in All Stars Racing Transformed and it was pretty laggy.

A fine entry in the MK series. Including the original SNES tracks was fantastic.
