Japanese Style Arcade Stick Balltop on NES Advantage

Post by jinxmitchell »

Hey all! For you guys who like using the NES Advantage, but want something just a little different, I just took mine apart and the stick looked like it would accept a Sanwa/Seimitsu balltop, so I gave it a shot and it works! My Advantages are in pieces at the moment as I'm cleaning them up, but I can post pics in a couple of days if people want to see what it looks like. The arcade style tops are larger than the original Advantage top. You can also put a "bat-top" on if you get an adapter (they are really cheap).

There are many sites to find these, but here's one in Southern California if you want to browse through the options.

Edit: Here are a couple of photos on a disassembled stick for comparison.

You're gonna grease those up when you reassemble, right? Made mine a lot smoother and there should't be any dust next time I'm in them.

Where would you grease Hobie? The advantage is literally a rocker on a big dpad.

jinxmitchell, thanks for the idea. I just need to find a solid black balltop for mine, all of my spares are white.

yeah, I'm thinking of a red ball top or a gray one to match the Nintendo theme.

I hadn't considered greasing it, but I'll try it out.

There's the ball pivot it sits on, and I put a tiny little bit on the curved bit around the base of the stick where it is all gray with dust in those pictures.
