Count me in! Seasonal sounds the best to me. Although bi-monthly is just as good, though.
Allowing more time to complete the games would allow different people with different playing styles to join in.
I'm looking very forward to this.

Re: Together RPG of the month or quarter club?
I like this idea a lot.
Quarterly would be ideal for slowpokes like me. 2 months could work too l I guess. A month is too short unless it's an Ys game or something.
And to reiterate what everyone has said, common games with multiple ports (and those which are easily emulated) would be ideal.
Some games that jump immediately to mind include Breath of Fire 1&2, Phantasy Star I-IV, Final Fantasy IV/V/VI, Chrono Trigger, and Ys I/II/III (though Phantasy Star and Ys I were already covered in Together Retro...).

Re: Together RPG of the month or quarter club?
I'll vote for quarterly, I tend to TAKE MY TIME while beating RPGs. I'M NOT ALL THAT HARDCORE.
But I have a lot in my backlog and it would be fun to play through them with others?

Re: Together RPG of the month or quarter club?
Yeah I would be torn between 2 or 3 months. 3 months might have some guys beating games in the 1st month and losing interest. 2 months might not be enough for some.
I think we could maybe do 4-6 a year and give time for thr game based on its length. A Persona game woild definitely want 3 or even 4 months haha. While an action RPG like Ys can be beaten in 15-20 hours and 3 months would be overkill. So a flexible schedule based on expected game length may be the best plan of action.

I'd be in for seasonal, another idea I had was to also do a thread for the game of the season dedicated to FAQ, hints, tips, and trick.
I think PSP rpg would probably be the best console to start off with since it's games are easy to come by and cheap.

"Shmup" is far more elegant!

Re: Together RPG of the month or quarter club?
My idea for games would be for us to cycle by sub genre. Traditional JRPG, followed by Action RPG, then tactical or strategy RPG, then a western or PC RPG. This will keep things relatively fresh and diversify the lineup.

PSP would be fine if the game is available on other platforms as well. Not everyone has a PSP.SNKnicotine wrote:I'd be in for seasonal, another idea I had was to also do a thread for the game of the season dedicated to FAQ, hints, tips, and trick.

So Final Fantasy IV, Lunar, and Ys I&II = good.
Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time, Jeanne D'Arc, Mimana Iyar Chronicles = bad.
Re: Together RPG of the month or quarter club?
I would avoid PSP exclusives, I know it was port heaven but I don't have a working PSP right now and the emulation scene isn't very stable for it yet.SNKnicotine wrote:I'd be in for seasonal, another idea I had was to also do a thread for the game of the season dedicated to FAQ, hints, tips, and trick.

With this being a retro forum, I also vote for only retro RPGs. That would mean nothing on the DC and later for me.
