This was my reaction when I first read that screen:

I was the other end of that trade. I can't say I enjoy playing the slot games, but I sure enjoy having them on my shelf.

edit: Did some quick research, and it could be as easy as cleaning battery acid that leaked on the board. IF that doesnt do it, it could be fixed by replacing the "crystal" but I didnt look too far into that yet. Worst case it would need a new board, which seem to go for under $100.
Ok, talked to the guy, he had the cab in storage for a couple years and it worked when he put it away, and not when he took it out. He lives a little farther away than I thought, but not too bad. Got my buddy with a truck on board as well and we are set to head out there around 3. Didnt talk about price, but hoping that a cash offer will get me a good price.

I didn't notice - how long has it been listed? Maybe seeing cash in hand, especially if it's been listed for awhile, will seal the deal.

EDIT: so, been up for 3 days, usually w/big items like this people just want to get rid of 'em and 3-day mark is about right to just take the first reasonable offer.

I will base my offer on physical condition of the cab, he said it would be an 8-8.5 out of 10 condition wise. I am super stoked to check this out, I have been wanting an MVS cab forever, and I can finally get my Neo Geo on the most authentic way.

Got the cab! Had to drive wayyyyyy farther than I expected, got lost, didnt have phone reception for like and hour and I worried my Wife when she didnt hear from me. Cab is in pretty good condition, just needs a good cleaning, and I might repaint it and replace the decals. Its 100% complete, its like straight from the arcade, has coin mech, change bucket, huge lock thing to protect the coins. I could go on and on, but for now I will just post some pics!

Turns out its a 2 slot board, have not taken it out yet, but I can clearly see that the battery leaked out, so I am going to assume that is the cause of the green screen.

Metal Slug 5 looks like its in good condition:

So I got the price down to 200, plus 20 bucks in gas for my friend I would say I did pretty good.

Congrats on your pick up!

Might be a silly question, but I'm curious what the change bucket looks like. There was a thread over at Neo-Geo.com about how some of those guys pay quarters to play their own cabs, so that the change bucket becomes a saving mechanism...

No problem, here you go!

And I guess you can call my purchase price 199 after taking a look in the back 8)

Edit:
Got the board out to inspect, and the battery for sure leaked, and there is major corrosion around a resistor that is right next to the battery, and like 3 of the chips (I think ram chips) near the battery. I will do my best to try and clean it up just to see if it works, if not then I will order a 1 slot board online. In the mean time it will allow me to really put some TLC into the cab, since I cant play it yet I can spend some quality time cleaning it and possibly repainting some sections.

Nice original label on MS5, i'd comfortably say that's in the $70-80 range.

1-slot neo boards are straight JAMMA, 2-4-6 are not iirc, not sure if you can straight swap a 1-slot into a 2-slot setup, you maybe can w/a neo-->jamma adapter, just research that part first. Worst case scenario you have to spend an extra $20 to get a 2-slot instead, but i've seen plenty of damaged 1 and 2 slots rejuvenated from leaky batteries on the neo boards. Keep us posted.
