Sometimes I wish I was a judge just so I could tell people "No, you're fucking stupid and have no common sense. Why don't you pay this fine for wasting everyone's time and go home."
They do the first part and last part pretty often...Making someone pay a fine, however, just drags out the litigation, unfortunately.

Good, hopefully no lingering issues once she's ok.
She crossed over a solid white in an intersectin so it is her fault completely, but still my wife is worried about lawsuit possibilities. According to the officer at the crash, the lady was talking to the EMTs about suing us.
...what? :?
She is getting a second opinion tonight from her family doctor, just to be safe.

Yeah, sorry if that doesnt make sense. The intersection goes onto a bridge, and feeds to a freeway on ramp. It has a solid white line all the way back to the light my wife was stopped at. She started forward and the lady decided that she would merge while in the intersection - my guess is that she thought she could floor it and cut between my wife before she got to the stand still in her lane. I am not incredibly familiar with TN driving laws, but when I asked the officer about it he said that merging in an intersection and crossing a solid white line are both illegal. So I am curious to if she can get anyone to take her case, since she it seems like she is getting the ticket for it, but I doubt we will hear anything else from that lady.

Nono, I got you. That was a rhetorical 'what' for the lady possibly suing when she's the idiot in the wrong.

If your wife didn't get a ticket and the other lady did, you should, should, be in the clear. But even a "failure to yield" can turn into a headache.

I had a college kid pull out in front of me a year or two ago, and I bumped his rear bumper. Although I always suggest calling the police after an accident, mine didn't qualify as one. I told the guy "You are going to get a ticket, I'm going to get a ticket, and we'll both have to go to court over a love tap.

He got a ticket, I got a ticket, and missed a day of work to go to court. My lawyer suggested "Show him proof of insurance, that there has been no claim filed, the ticket, and shut up". After being mistaken for a lawyer*, I was called up to the DA who asked the court "Does anyone have a claim against a Mister Luke so and so? No? Thank you." and I didn't even have to pay court fees. Total waste of time.

edit-Ticked: "News reporters" who report while reading off their mobile phone. A little eye contact with the camera doesn't hurt "journalists".

*I've mentioned this before, but I still can't believe how some people conduct themselves and what some people wear to court. I'm not saying you need to wear an Armani suit, or even a suit at that, but at least make an attempt to make yourself presentable. Before the court circus began (and it is a circus) the judge had to remind people to hike up their pants, take off their hats, and mute their mobile phone or they would be held in contempt.

And I kid you not there were actual human beings with a brain who saw the line to the court room and uttered things including "I gotta wait in line?", and, "F**k all this waiting s#!t, I'm going home". And others JOINED IN with "I'm out too, this is some bullsheet".

I got the feeling that there are far more "failure to appear(s)" than I am aware of. I'm a but of a patriot, and have always thought the better of my fellow man, but going to court will depress you to the point you feel defeated even if you won your case.

Exactly. That's something we have touched upon as well.

REPO Man wrote::evil:    WTF?? Turns out that a lot of my money woes is because my bank may or may not be charging me a fee to check my balance at the ATM!
Are you using an ATM owned by your bank? If not, they will tell you what their surcharge on the screen which is from the ATM owner and you might also get charged by your own bank.
REPO Man wrote: Plus, who the fuck thinks charging someone just to check their balance is a smart decision? I does NOT cost that much to pay for the ink, paper, general mechanical maintenance and electricity needed to print a receipt!
It cost money to have an ATM (there's the building rent that the ATM is in, and someone needs to put money into it and change the paper rolls, etc).

Why are you checking your balance at the ATM? Why haven't you figured out how to access your account online to check the balance and the general history?
