Of course that's overkill when I drink 1 cup a day and have a single cup french press.

But hey, if I see a cool old grinder that doesn't break the bank at the flea market, who knows. :?

If you have a French press, then a grinder is imperative!

They sell for a lot online, but they are easily found at antique shops and flea markets. (Apparently, some people collect old coffee grinders...what a weird hobby... :? ) My wife grabbed our grinder for a little over $10.

Look, I was doing good to graduate from instant to a press a few years ago. :P

    WTF?? Turns out that a lot of my money woes is because my bank may or may not be charging me a fee to check my balance at the ATM! And then my mom tells me that this is why I'll never move to New York. I love her, but I absolutely fucking HATE this bullshit she spews about me moving to New York! Well, fuck her! If she doesn't believe me, then when I'm rich and famous, she'll... get my forgiveness and financial assistance because I'm too good to let her rot for her foolishness. But does my being a better person for still wanting to help in spite of her inability to do her job as a mother and encourage me make me just a bit petty? That's some fucking deep irony.

I hear ya man. It doesn't matter if I pay all my bills on time and have cash to spare, mom still blows a gasket every time I buy something on Ebay, no matter what it is. She seems to ignore the fact that I don't buy stuff from there too often. Oddly, she's never really had a problem with any other online shopping, just Ebay. I don't get it.

Wow man, sounds like some parental rage you got going on there. Seems a bit ungrateful of you to even think about not helping your mom if you were to somehow get rich and famous yet she has raised and taken care of you your whole life...

Encouraging someone to move across the country to New York isnt the litmus test for good parenting...

Especially when he lacks the real world knowledge to understand that ATMs have surcharges, especially if they are not from your bank or if your type of account has that sort of fee.

I WAS VENTING!!!!!

Plus, who the fuck thinks charging someone just to check their balance is a smart decision? I does NOT cost that much to pay for the ink, paper, general mechanical maintenance and electricity needed to print a receipt!

And who is she is say I wouldn't make it in New York? That's not her job! As a parent, your job is to ENCOURAGE your children, not DISCOURAGE them. In fact, I think subconsciously her lack of faith in me is what's causing me to fail at even the simplest detail of such an endeavor.

But when not living in New York City hurts so much I can literally feel a dull pain in my stomach, keeping in mind that the pain's in my soul and therefore not native to the physical world, you know that says something.

Uh, the bank would think that is a good idea.

First, she is your mother. And she should encourage her children, yes. But not on fool's errands. And perhaps if she has a lack of faith in you, you should seriously consider sitting down and examining why, starting with yourself.

...that tells me you have a disturbing amount of interest placed into a fantasy of what living in New York City will be like.

I would be happy to live in a city at all so I could use public transit and not have to rely on others all the time. Charleston, SC would be my top choice, but anywhere would be better than where I am now.
