The other week I told one of my cute co-workers that I had an Atari 2600. She said "Wow you're even cooler than I thought you were!" Pretty sure I blushed.

Beats my experience, considering everybody who messaged me was your typical Linux Admin.
We need more females in this field... Maybe some of these guys would stop being such slobs and farting at work. I'm so sick of cleaning up doughnut powder and smelling the stench of unbathed, gassy, nerds all night...

This guy next to me has probably passed gas at least ten times tonight. A couple times he wasn't even trying to hide it.

I work at an elementary school. There are maybe three other men on staff here.

My band is now looking for shows, which rocks. We've sent out emails to several venues in Austin and one of the ones that got back to us asked us to fill out a questionnaire. Looking at the questionnaire, it looks like it was typed by A. a 3rd grader or 2. An older woman. Lots of questions ending in 3 or more question marks or exclamation points, instructions on how never to call past 9PM!!!! and so on. One of the questions was "does you have any vulgarity or profanity in your songs???" (seriously - they typed out 'does you')

I answered honestly that yes, a couple of our songs do have the FBomb in there, but we don't have any porno songs, or gross topics. She emailed me back and asked if "we could loose the fbombs?!??"

I don't speak for the band so I asked em about it and we collectively said "fuck that." Not that we're divas or anything, but we don't feel we should have to clean up 2 or 3 fbombs if we're playing at a bar, and not at Jimmy's Burgers - Bring the Kids, know what I'm sayin?

So I diplomatically emailed her back and said thanks for the request, but we'd rather play our songs as intended/written. If that works for you, great, lets work something out. If not, then thanks for your time.

I got an email like 10 minutes later saying "thanks but im going to decline. you need to think about the audience. no one wants to hear dirty songs."

I didn't respond but I looked at their calendar and they have no less than 3 BURLESQUE SHOWS booked for the next couple of weeks.

WTF? Idiots. Oh well, we just wont play there.

Dude, the comedy circuit has some of the same bull crap hurdles that should be cleared by the promo package alone. If you don't allow dirty language, why waste my time and ask me to audition? And what kind of comedy venue are you running if you don't allow "bad words" when the show starts at 10pm?

I understand not wanting excessive vulgarity in a show such as "I don't play that freshman shit when bringing food into the bedroom. None of that pussy whip cream stuff. I'll eat a knockwurst out of a cunt (not a joke I would tell)", but "that shit is ridiculous" should get a pass. So should "It's fucking hot outside".

Not being able to relate with the audience leaves you dead in the water, and I hate when clubs don't "get" their true audience.

Obviously only a minor speed bump on my day, but still annoying. Why is it that so many bags of ground coffee do not state whether they're coarse or fine ground? I'm just buying from the grocery store, not a fancy coffee shop and I keep trying random ones. The bag I opened today is fine ground which mostly clogs my coffee press.

I love everything about coffee except for how it make me feel. I get irritable, and down right bitchy after just one cup. But, the rest of my family praises coffee as if it was a wonder elixir.

I know it isn't for everyone, but after my Father started hand grinding his beans, he hasn't gone back to preground. He knows by the sound from the grinder when the beans are ground to his liking. You may want to invest in a hand grinder Hobes. Not only will it make a perfect grind for you, it's also pretty cool to see someone grind coffee without the aid of electricity.

I agree about grinding! Always buy beans, then grind yourself. Plus, the beans keep fresher longer than pre-ground. Pre-ground loses it's essence and 'goodness' quicker.

Just as with spices, you release the oils and flavor when grinding whole beans/seeds/nuts/etc.

You can find a quality electric grinder for less than $10usd, and you'll be set.

My Father uses this rig. A bit pricey, but he loves coffee. I'll also add that I've owned a Zassenhaus pepper grinder for several years and it has been worth every penny.

This is absolutely correct. We have a John Wright double-wheel coffee mill, and we have purchased whole bean coffee for years. It doesn't take long to grind, and the coffee tastes so much fresher. (We repurposed our old Mr. Coffee electric grinder as a spice grinder.)
