I don't know about Wonderswan, but it's actually quite easy and cheap to find Neo Geo Pocket Color games on eBay. You can often find them sold in 2-packs and 4-packs, even.Balasubbie wrote:Not worth its own thread, but does anyone have any special sites where they like to pick up Wonderswan and Neo Geo Pocket games? Preferably Color revisions of the two, but I'm easy. I'm based in Europe, and Ebay's/Amazon's offerings ain't exactly setting me on fire. Playasia seems pretty dry too.

My co-worker and I started playing Red Dead Redemption online after not playing for months. This game is way too much fun. Especially the exploding rifle.

Re: What are you playing?
Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask
My first professor Layton game. It's pretty good. The only thing I dislike is the nature of some of the game's puzzles. A lot of them feel like trick questions. Either you're not given all the info you need to solve the puzzle or the game tells you it wants one thing when it really wants something else. It's like playing a puzzle game designed by a con man who uses a two sided coin whenever he tries to settle something with someone using a coin toss. The game is constantly trying to trick you. It's not a big deal once you get comfortable with the idea, but it irritated me a bit at first. One example:
The game shows you an image and asks you to select the mirror image of it. After looking at all the options, I realized that none of them matched. What the hell? How can I solve a puzzle when none of the answers are correct? Finally, I noticed that one looked like the mirror image if it was turned upside down. Logically, this can't be the correct answer since the game never said that the image should be upside down, just that it be a mirror image. Turns out that was the correct answer
They are a fair amount of stupid puzzles like that in the game that just don't make sense given the info that the game gives you. It's not so much that the game is hard, just that you need to understand that there is a certain amount of BS to each of the game's puzzles in order to get good at solving them. Another puzzle asked me to look at a group of items and pick the one that doesn't have a matching item. The correct answer is some item that is nearly off screen and not placed in the same group as the others. This game is trying way too hard to be clever and a lot of the puzzles just feel contrived.

Finishing up Half-Life when I get home from work, and then going on a shoot 'em up marathon over the weekend. I'm not really sure where I should start, as it's been a while since I played any shmups seriously. I think I may tackle some cute 'em ups first and go from there. I know there are some fantastic guides here on RacketBoy, and I plan on using them.
Unfortunately, my Genesis (or it's power cable) decided to be a dick and crap out on me. Guess I'll be emulating this weekend...

RE4 HD, not sure why anyone ragged on this back when it came out... I think it looks fantastic honestly. Been a blast running through it again, probably one of my top favorites last gen. It's giving me the urge to finally hit up the MGS HD collection since I haven't touched that yet, can't remember the last time I ran through MGS2.

Crash Bash, in the first secret level, in the trophy challenge, on my PS1, with a PSOne Controller, through a multitap, on a sofabed, near a laptop, in my den, in space.

Re: What are you playing?

I think I'm pretty close to the end of the campaign in Halo 3: ODST. Much better than I expected. I hear a lot of negative stuff about the game from Halo fans, so didn't run out and buy it like I usually do with Halo. Since my expectations were low, I've been pleasantly surprised. Great production value, fun firefights, and it has Nathan Fillon from Firefly doing voice-acting! There is a little of retreading through areas you've already been though, but it's not so bad it ruins the game or anything.

ODST is good IMO, but not as good as Halo: Reach. Haven't beat 4 yet, but I would currently rank them as such:BurningDoom wrote:

Halo > Reach > Halo 2 > ODST > Halo 3.

Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon - It's okay so far, not knocking my socks off or anything, but decent. Somehow the ghost encounters just aren't as unique and memorable as they were in the first game. They just seem like run of the mill enemies now, and not the memorable encounters they were in the original. That's the problem with sequels, they always forget to replicate the little things that make a game great.
