Hey guys,
New poster, and new to the Dreamcast scene. I just have a quick VGA related question.
I've come to understand that there are some games that aren't initially compatible with VGA, but that you can use a hex editor to change a code that shows up near the word KATANA and JUE to 0799A10. I tried this with a Mortal Kombat game I downloaded and it had worked.
What I am wondering is this. If a game is VGA compatible will it have the 0799A10 to begin with, when viewing in hex editor? Why I ask is that I figured it would be easier to just change the code in all games, instead of wasting a disk by burning it to find out it isn't VGA compatible, and then having to edit the code and burn again. Or if the default code could be different and still be VGA compatible and if I edited this to 0799A10 would the game not work?
I don't have any disks right now, just ordered 100 off amazon for $18, so I can't test it, but was thinking of editing all the codes in preparation of getting the disks to save time.

So where's a legit source for a quality cable? Everything on ebay seems to be from Hong Kong...

easily the BEST DC aftermarket VGA cable produced today. They may be a bit pricey, but it's worth every penny. High Quality parts. Meticulous craftsmanship. Built to your specifications, and best of all. A warranty if something goes wrong with it.

Wow, nearly $50! It looks like they make a quality cable though.CD AGES wrote:I've said it before...Opa Opa wrote:So where's a legit source for a quality cable? Everything on ebay seems to be from Hong Kong...

Yeah, HE does. The design is very straight forward yet incredibly convenient. HK manufactures have already begun to copy his design but with mixed results in terms of reliability and build quality.Wow, nearly $50! It looks like they make a quality cable though.

Duranik (devs of Sturmwind), have been using Cabou VGA cables (which I believe were donated to them) with their hardware setup for development of the game.
The guy is really deserving of anyone business who is in search of VGA cables for their system. He's honestly a very nice fellah and a real Dreamcast fan above all.

Why would you pay $50 for that when you can pay $55 for the Hanzo? Serious question.
