So what have you guys been watching lately?

Can't get over how much I'm enjoying the X-Files. Never saw it when I was growing up. I'm well into the third season already, and can't wait to play the PS2 game.

You should play the PS1 game as well, if you can find it. Also, remember to watch the movie (Fight The Future) after season five. It was intended to be a possible series finale when it didn't look like they would get a season six and personally, I use it that way because while there were still some good stories afterward, I think the movie is where they peaked.

Which seasons would you recommend watching or skipping?

Well, you should watch season six and seven because they tie up loose ends and the season seven finale was intended to be the series ender even more than the movie was. Seasons eight and nine, however, you can safely skip if you so choose because Chris Carter wasn't expecting the series to go past season seven and it shows.

Is there an episode guide for the X-Files that singles out the Monster of the Week shows, because after Fringe those in XF seem really outdated (and not Columbo-level outdated—that show still pips all the CSI crap of today)

TNG update...

I'm now already a few episodes in season 2, haha yeah safe to say I'm hooked now. I'm surprised by the humor off and on too, freaking hilarious LOL moments sometimes.

Um, sorry Farscape but you're gonna have to wait!

Good to see that you're enjoying it.

I think we've decided to start watching Firefly again, but afterwards it might be time to fire up season 1 of TNG and start all over. I need to get these in HD...

I'm also working my way through The X-Files for the first time, I'm up to season 5 at the moment.
There were a few episodes I saw when I was a little, but mostly my parents didn't let me watch it (even though my Dad was hugely into it).

While you guys are on a sci-fi kick, you should watch the first few seasons (FOX seasons) of Sliders. Great stuff. When they moved to the Sci-Fi Channel, though, (after season 3, I believe) the quality of the show sharply dropped.

Don't you mean they should just watch the first episode of Sliders? That show would have worked much better as a movie and not stretched out into a series ... the show gets stale after like three episodes and by Season 2 they're copying the wizard of oz.

The pilot is fantastic ... the rest of the show isn't.

I'll save people some time:
Do they get home? Yes, many times. It's dumb. (Earth isn't their home)
