At the start of the month, I'd only previously cleared Simple Mode once with Type I, got to the Stage 3 boss in Original, and hadn't got past the first stage in Unlimited. Now I've cleared Simple with all ships, beaten Original and just made it to Stage 4 in Unlimited. Not bad for a month's work...

UNLIMITED MODE

I've been playing, but haven't been getting anything better than what I've already posted. This game is also pretty painful to my hand after a while for all the locking on I gotta do

I was into this that first weekend, but haven't felt like playing it since then :/

Hoping the bug bites once more before the weekend clears. I just have a hard time pouring time into games where each run takes so much time.

How damn, this game is really cool. I dabbled in Original, and I know I'm going to really enjoy that mode, but I've decided to start in Simple, since its actually quite a nice mode, and is still providing a challenge. This is what I've managed after a handful of credits, but I have a feeling I'll be up late tonight with this one.

Simple Mode

Dunpeal2064 - 37,033,580 - Stage 4 (Boss) - Type I

That Stage 2 boss is mean. This run was my first time seeing him, (the runs prior to this, I kept dying trying to go into Break mode, not realizing it s not in Simple Mode), and he killed me at least twice with his flailing.

I'm gonna keep this game installed for sure, and hopefully return to it once in a while. Watching those replays I saved always pushes me to try and do better.

I randomly decided to pop a credit in this before running out to do some errands, and all of a sudden the game just clicked. I usually run my laptop out to my TV, and get all comfy in front of it to shmup, but this cred was played hunched over on my tiny little laptop screen.

Dunpeal - 79,416,700 - Stage 5 - Type I

So, now that I get how this game works, I'm gonna have to return to it a bit later on today and see what I can do.

Also, Doc, what is your highest non-Type Z score in Simple? I want to shoot for that, as it looks like Type Z is far more powerful than the other types, and since I am getting in on this so late, I wouldn't even have enough time to unlock Type Z.

These were my scores for Simple Mode with the different ships...

SIMPLE MODE

DocHauser - 98,133,540 - ALL CLEAR!! - Type I

DocHauser - 93,470,300 - ALL CLEAR!! - Type II

DocHauser - 119,610,800 - ALL CLEAR!! - Type Z

Actually, I just remembered that I've beaten my Type I score for Simple. I'll make a note of the score next time I load it up. I've been trying to play with the bomb meter at max, so that you constantly get the extra stars for point-blanking enemies. It does make a difference to your score, but it's harder because the rank shoots up.

Type Z's main benefit is that the meter fills up faster, so you can enter Break Mode more quickly in Original and Unlimited. For that reason it has less of an advantage in Simple Mode (which doesn't have Break); if you're playing with the meter at max then it's pretty much the same with all ships.

Well, seeing you guys give this some more run at the end of the month motivated me to fire it up the first time in 3 weeks. Only had time for one run, but it was worth it.

That last boss' 2nd form is brutal, soaked me for 3 lives. His 3rd form is quite easy as his last form. I got nicked by his bouncing last form for my final life and he had just a smidge of health left :/

At any rate, improvement:

Everyone should try and get a few runs in Original Mode before the end of the month too. It's awesome.

I'll probably try it tomorrow. How many points needed to open unlimited?
