Ripped a nice old chunk out of my big toe this morning while rushing to get out of the house. A brutal toe stubbing if I've ever seen one. Never pays to be in a hurry!

Pic I took before getting the wound closed for anyone morbidly curious.

So the medical terminology teacher and I had a standoff today before the final. When asked about the previous online test's early day termination she told me that it wasn't her responsibility to take the test, then proceeded to ask everyone if she should give preferential treatment to me because of my irresponsibility. Some people stated that there were instances where she gave them preferential treatment, allowing them to take a closed test on two occasions. Her reply was, "That was because it was the beginning of the semester."

Me and at least two other people who were affected by this and will be getting a zero on that test.

I am lodging a formal complaint and will be keeping an eye on the grades and if they were adjusted properly. If not, I will be contacting everyone in the class to speak up against her because every student was affected by the test problems earlier in the year with which we were unable to select a correct answer on questions, even if they were the correct one.

On the plus side, I demolished the final. It is supposed to be 40% of our grade according to the syllabus (although, online it is says that it is 16% of our grade.)

BMF: I hope that crap gets straightened out. I wouldn't sit on this one though, lodge that complaint and make sure you speak to the department about the incorrect dates in the syllabus. At best, you'd be able to take that examination. Seems like some inflexibility on her behalf, make sure you advocate for yourself.

:) : I finally got paid yesterday. It was a day late from what they told me, but at least I got it.

:D : The 'rents have gone off to a wedding reception for the entire day, leaving me alone to my own devices. I almost don't know what to do with myself. I thought about going out thrift shopping, but Pandora's Tower is calling to me. I think I'm going to chill in front of the TV a bit and then spend some quality time with my newest game

We had one professor in at school who was always late, wouldn't post our assignments until the day/night before class (assignments that would take hours to complete and she'd had the entire weekend or more to post them, if she posted them at all) and then ended up being an hour late for the 2 hour final.

At that point, a group of students left to go complain to the Dean, while the rest of us waited to see if she showed at all. He must have said something appropriately threatening and convincing, because from what I heard she was much better by next semester.

Of course, she was an official professor and not just an adjunct, but trust me when I say that I understand a bit of what you're going through. It's beyond frustrating to know that the school expects you to be punctual and professional, but doesn't seem to be quite as stringent with the people they hire :?

How can you expect someone to be a good teacher when they often work for a very low rate of pay, are strategically denied benefits, are given immense class loads, and are told they have no job security regardless of performance? I am not "excusing" your teacher, but I wouldn't be shocked to learn that there is little to no incentive for her to give a fuck.
This is unfortunately the truth. The pay really does not fit the level of education required for teaching faculty, and the researchers that have to teach as part of their university responsibilities have very little time or interest for it.

thanks everyone for your support. I'm not one that normally complains about things, especially in the realm of education. I find a lot of people usually do argue and bicker over things based solely on the student's irresponsibility, but in this instance, there were so many problems with her as a teacher.

I just needed to vent this out because it is so infuriating when you do your work, you dedicate so many hours to a class that you honestly shouldn't have to do and then have these issues arise that aren't being addressed by the teacher.

On the plus side, this was it for finals. My hell week is over and, because of my hard work, got to skip two final exams. I can't complain too much about that haha!

thanks again gang!

:D It's 75 degrees out, the sun is shining, I've got beer and two cute dogs that want to go to happy hour with me for snacks. Today is going to be a good day.

These dogs are like fishing with dynamite.
